This game doesn't even launch without internet connection.

I didn't know this. Yesterday my internet connection dropped, I tried to play Shadow of War and it required me to be online on Steam. It sux really.

Some games are playable offline but randomly require internet to launch one time but then for a while it will work fine offline until it wants to

No drm = better. Like I didn't see that coming and makes 0 sense on being a better game version.

As long as this version has benefits to keep you playing I.E weekly challenges for better gear, online vendetta/conquest for even more fun and can challenge your friends forts. You can recruit orcs in other player worlds which is pretty neat, it is the better version.

That's irrelevant, steam version has actual things you can do before and after finishing the story, not some pointless install anywhere and play feature.

No DRM sure, but also No Online functions either.
The GOG version has NO Online Play, it was all removed.
