No need, there is little story contunity and outside the protagonist no reaocurring characters.
Only one that shows up again Is gollum, more as a pointless cameo, and a single orc.
Overall the game is light on any plot, and once you finish the first few missions with that chick and black dude they never show up again, and rest of game is just an endless grind of clearing one map after another since story missions will be locked out before you do this.

I think this is a pretty good game too since they removed the microtransactions.

The story seems short though compared to the first one, and less fun.
