It's like no one has anything better to do anymore these days.
Still, where there is money involved, its unlikely to be changed...2036 is the patent expiration and thats not going to change unless they can make more money off of it
The title literally states they just found out, people find out information at different times...it would be more unusual if no one ever mentioned it ever again.
For example, today I found out about Nuclear Diamond Batteries that was a concept proposed in 2016, harnessing the beta decay of radioactive waste to generate electricity. I just found out about it today, that can generate power for upwards of 28,000 years. Should people be upset that I only now just learned about it? Your logic makes no sense.
Also the patent for the Nemesis system was granted in 2021, so it hasnt been 4 years. In fact, if you go off when they filed the application, it has been 6 years and the game itself has been out for 5 years. So you're mad at them for learning new information while giving wrong information yourself. lol
You do have the right to be annoyed at any lack of use though.
What the f*** is this childish s***? A game company develops this amazing tech which allows them to do unique things with their games that no one else can...And it's now evil that they're keeping everyone else on the internet from stealing it and killing their competitive advantage? What kind of Chinese sympathizer nonsense am I reading here?
So no one's allow to profit from their own inventions? We really need to bring Chinese Economics to the gaming industry where no one owns anything they create? How entitled does someone have to be to get angry at a company for protecting something they invented?
>whether it means torrenting or outright stealing,
What a liar. OP was torrenting all his games anyway.
>Now just imagine if Nintendo had patented jumping in video games.
That's not how it works. Jumping is a concept. It's not a program. The Nemesis system is a specific set of coding that is being patented. It's not just the concept that is being patented...there are other game companies that can and do have similar systems...they just can't access the tech Monolith used to make it.
And I hope alll doomsday soothsayer in this thread know that patents don't last forever. After five to ten years, they run out and then everything in that patent becomes public knowledge. This is the downside of a patent...if you want something to be a secret forever, you don't patent it at all.
You should take your own advice and walk away from a dude who just found out about the patent and is frustrated by it.
All in all, WB created a unique method that provides a new experience. It sucks that other new products can't be sprawled out from it right away but they deserve the rights to have their invention protected. I just hope they would use their own patent to create more games like this.
Do you realize that you're the one with the shady no-pfp lvl 10 account that does not own the game this forum is from...? while the guy you're acussing of piracy has a lvl 34 account that does...? And on top of that, owns another +700 other games and over a thousand of DLCs according to his profile, which btw, the profile open for anyone to see and check and double check, because unlike you(and this is just me assuming things), he actually doesn't seem to have anything to hide at all.
That said, I do not agree with OP. But that doesn't mean I can just dismiss his entire logic/point over a silly comment which most likely was written in the heat of the moment.
See, Hotel? This is how you reply to someone who happens to have an opposing view. No need to attack. No need for fallacies nor being a complete ace-hole. Just sharing the perspective which the other person might be missing. An answer to a given question. Nothing less, nothing more.
Steam would certainly be better off with more Lazuul's and less... Hotel Securities? Damn, even your name sucks. Ups... Well, less of me too.
