If you haven't updated your download speed somewhere in the Steam settings it will show insanely long download times. I often get told download will take 1-2 days when it really takes 5-10 minutes. Yes, I'm too lazy to change the settings...

Well that makes no sense. The estimated time is pretty precise if you ask me. What are you even talking about with updated download speeds in Steam? The only thing you can do is limit your speed IIRC.
