Very long loading times SSD
I've returned to the game after several months. The initial loading screen (from menu to the actual game) now takes around 1-1,5 minute. I've nVidia 1660 6GB, 16GB RAM, SSD and I5. Not a NASA computer exactly, but good enough to run this FullHD high. And anyway, I don't remember loading times such ridiculously high in the spring this year. 10-15 sec maybe. Anybody knows what's going on or how to remedy? I've month new graphic drivers.

The thing that got it to work (at least for me) was turning on Windows 10 Full Screen optimization (ironically) AND playing the game in Borderless Window. Both of these things must be set at the same time. Changing either one seems to make the problem come back for me.

You can set the game to Borderless Window in-game.

As for fullscreen optimization, find the actual application in the steam file, right click it, go to compatibility, then make sure "Disable Fullscreen Optimization" is UNCHECKED. Normally, myself or others advise the opposite, but there is something about this game that seems to click with it (at least for me).

Of course, running the game as administrator also can't hurt.

I'm not sure why fullscreen settings affect this game, but that is what worked for me.

I hope this helps people as well.

I have an HDD in a laptop, and it takes me a few seconds to load in.

Heya, thanks for replying. Anyway, are we clear, that we talk about the initial loading? The first loading from the menus to the save. Because loading or quickloading once the game comenced is pretty ok for me too.

Okay, thanks for the replies. Seems that the issue is between my computer and the game. But I didn't have this in the spring and nothing save the drivers has changed. Seems bad to downgrade those, tho.

Yeah, Windows 10 Pro has a BitLocker thing installed, which always uses some of your read and write speed. I advise you to upgrade to Windows 11 Home. I recently upgraded, and I have thought my PC couldn't go any faster. It's so fast, even for an HDD.

Thanks for your replies, and I am glad the Win 11 works fast now for you, but tbh this doesn't seem likely. I've had Windows 10 for a few years by now and this slowing started to happen just recently and only in this game. And even in the spring this game was ok, as I wrote before. Also, BitLocker is a thing that locks the initial load to Windows, I don't have this - the service is down, not running. Just checked it.

Anyway, I think the problem is solved the other way. I just uninstalled the game frustrated by the fifth fight with an overloard and fights with various epic/legendary Orcs. Ridiculous damage sponges, immunities to like 3/5 of anything except normal attack, adapting to even more (go back to damage sponge :), constantly spawning mobs... meh... The game was really fun and right kind of hard until these fights emerged.

How do you enable borderless fullscreen? I don't see any such option in-game.
hotmatrixx Jun 30, 2024 @ 11:09am
If you getting an exceptionally long loaded screen on the initial Load in, but not during normal gameplay; then it's 90% because of WB Play.

You can test this by disconnecting from the Internet by physically pulling the plug out your computer; or disconnecting your Wi-Fi;

if you don't have a WB Play account that causes just as many issues annoyingly.

"Fullscreen" is implied Borderless; but true borderless window is only an available option if your graphics card is all correctly set to native mode; I can't remember the details but I do know that it pretty much never is by default with this game; I had to do some tweaking in order to get it to work and I can't remember what that involved exactly

Oh I see. I guess I'll have to look into 3rd party tools because it's not there in settings.ini. :steamfacepalm:

Thanks for replying! By load times I meant both save and load times - throughout the game actually.

well, the only other obvious thing that I can think of is if you're installed on a HDD.
I was, the first time I played, and load times were.... painful.

This game 'needs' an SSD.

I haven't been playing it for some time now, but I am glad you guys tried to discuss the OP even more. Hope it helps other people, too. Thanks!
