Anyway, I think the problem is solved the other way. I just uninstalled the game frustrated by the fifth fight with an overloard and fights with various epic/legendary Orcs. Ridiculous damage sponges, immunities to like 3/5 of anything except normal attack, adapting to even more (go back to damage sponge :), constantly spawning mobs... meh... The game was really fun and right kind of hard until these fights emerged.
The thing that got it to work (at least for me) was turning on Windows 10 Full Screen optimization (ironically) AND playing the game in Borderless Window. Both of these things must be set at the same time. Changing either one seems to make the problem come back for me.
You can set the game to Borderless Window in-game.
As for fullscreen optimization, find the actual application in the steam file, right click it, go to compatibility, then make sure "Disable Fullscreen Optimization" is UNCHECKED. Normally, myself or others advise the opposite, but there is something about this game that seems to click with it (at least for me).
Of course, running the game as administrator also can't hurt.
I'm not sure why fullscreen settings affect this game, but that is what worked for me.
I hope this helps people as well.
You can test this by disconnecting from the Internet by physically pulling the plug out your computer; or disconnecting your Wi-Fi;
if you don't have a WB Play account that causes just as many issues annoyingly.
Oh I see. I guess I'll have to look into 3rd party tools because it's not there in settings.ini.
Thanks for replying! By load times I meant both save and load times - throughout the game actually.
well, the only other obvious thing that I can think of is if you're installed on a HDD.
I was, the first time I played, and load times were.... painful.
This game 'needs' an SSD.
