A slayer with lot of rages? Weird. Out of some unstable ( raged by everything)cuties...
Shaming and lvling (then shaming again) are the basis to build good traits orcs legit but its more a hassle if rng hates you, wich seems to be your case xd.
If you didnt met Infested/Flies orcs you can use the fleas to turn an orc you want into it, he will lose the fear but from what I saw with mine they tend to be bad learner for others things.
They can get BeastSlayer if they do hunts, but I dont think I saw an orc getting rid of a ghulie or spider fear.
Dont waste your time building traits from guys who were on garison.
On a side note, you should let your guys choose by themself they weapon element, lot dont change so do what you want with them but some tend to choose cursed weap (specially tricksters), become cursed and can become necromancers with a bit of training (dont need to die like those morons I avenge in vendettas).
The guy I refer to is "The Flame of War" and started out with fire proof, enraged by fire, and a fire weapon. He also has fire bomb, mine, and the fire bombs upon death. This isn't something i expected to see on a slayer along side the typical slayer strengths. He started out enraged by only poison, but after some time gained multiple other rages. An ongoing rivalry with a beast master lead to caragor rage. Enraged by fire came about, possibly due to how often he was hit with flames from his own weapons. He gained enraged by cowards after a certain orc fled from their duel a couple times. He is also enraged by a couple other things i don't remember now. He's effectively a combination of destroyer, slayer, and berserker at this point. I hope he makes it to the end game and level 80 so I can garrison him. He's one nemesis I'll never forget!
Not like the Plagued ones...
As for body guards though, I second Pandora, never ever make you best mate a bodyguard and if your crazy enough to do it anyway, make sure they are NOT immune to all. I don't care if its flies, beast, hell even if they're only scared of dragons make sure they have a strong weakness because then you don't risk killing them when your trying to shame them. Auto terrified sucks but its useful for this and this alone: easy, low risk shaming to break "Iron Will". If you really truly love the orc lock them up in the fortress or garrison and only bring them out when doing a siege or other such event, this will protect you from betrayal and will allow you to safely have an immune to all orc without any major consequences. Hell, you don't even have to take them out for a night on the town to rank up, use the pit fights or war training to avoid losing them to betrayal.
Lol, did you had defenders captains losing their shield after lot of stealth hit? It happened quite a lot to me but dont know if its normal xd.
I feel my play style is a bit different from most as I'm not interested in online conquests and defense. It was cool after my first time beating the game, but I lost interest due to its more technical game play. This has lead me to eventually start the game over after I've done all that interests me and Garrison all my favorite orcs. This way I'm not built up like an absolute god and the game can take back some agency over how the nemesis system will treat me. This means losing unique orcs doesn't much trouble me as they tend to come around again my next time through. This does make me wonder if the orcs in my garrison affect what unique orcs appear in subsequent play throughs. If so, I'll go over who I have in the garrison and start to get rid of those I'm not too attached to. After dozens of play throughs, My garrison is nearly 500 strong. Please let me know if the garrison does affect who will show im my play through so I can make some fixes!
Yeah, Iron will is a hassle, I to loved painting Minas Morgul with black blood while listening my bodyguards stories but they eventually betrayed me in the end. After 600 hours you throw it in the towel xd.
No more bodyguards for me, if I need one I borrow a random guy from a Warchief. Can still betray me but its a bit safer.
Well, online conquest is ruined now, no point in climbing rank to see the heavy edited ones and the worse ones above.
Some said if you garrison an unique title it may appear again but I have doubts about this one.
On a side not, I feel like I'm in the sweet spot of my current play through. I'm level 66. The problem is that at lower levels the orcs are pretty weak in terms of traits, but at max level, you no longer have a window for training your orcs. I wish there was a way around this problem I always run into.
Its worse in postgame, ALL NEW enemies are around your lvl or more= no new traits for those who didnt rush and ended the game at lvl 40 (happens a lot, guess they dont understand the point of this game xd).
You should shame your guys but frankly its a hassle, if you dont plan to go online you dont need great traits for your guys.
At your lvl you should see good fighters in Vendettas, you should avenge some of our brothers if the target is interesting. Later you will mostly see assassins and "I let you kill me on purpose guys" so better get some before.
I tend to reach the Shadow Wars around 60 to 70. I'd pobably be near maxed level if I didn't tend to save the Slaughter and Outlaw Showdowns for the end game. I tend to do this just so that I can add a lil spice back to the game once I've completed everything else that's of interest.
I actually didn't think you could recruit captains from vendettas, thanks for telling me that! I don't die too often, but when I do, it's because I was one shot by a savage assassin. That or I decided to let a slave or something kill me just to make something unique.
Tribes showdows for the end... you need to have not full control then, or it will be 1 vs 1 (I still didnt get the "the invaders slaughtered my boys scenario" so I dont know if its real.
Berserkers are also annoying in Assault Sieges, sometimes they focuse in 1 or several allied(s) except when they are against a foe or running to the next spot. Way to kill the flow of battle.
