Area 1 map - unavailable locations...

So...only about 12 hours in and been wandering around Minas Ithil and Cirth Ungol collecting stuff (mainly) and also recently started targeting and killing Captains, so I know I've not made much progress.

I've noticed on my map that I can select Osgiliath and Minas Tirth to at least identify what they are but I can't travel to them.

Why?

Do I need to complete quests to open up those locations? Only dropped back into this game this weekend after a few months when I first got it (dropped it to complete all the Batman games) so can't remember how I opened up Cirith Ungol in the first place...

You have to go on in the story until it leads you to thoses places.

There are only 5 places that you can go. Minas Ithil and Cirith Ungol are already available in act 1, the rest will become available in act 2.
There is also the sixth region but you need dlc "desolation of mordor" to go there.

All others locations on the map, are only markers, so you can see where is Minas Tirith or Osgiliath from books/movies, but you can't go there
