New player questions about in game map and flash/smoke bombs that keep attacking me.

what are the red areas on the map? a lot of times i have intel on a captain (lower lvl then the rest) and hes not on map, it just says "search target area."

The other thing is ill be doing my thing (ambushing orcs to build rage/might before fights) and ill of a sudden *pfffz zap bang!* im being hit by something invisible, it looks like smoke bombs or something. Yet when i look into the wraith world i cant see any captains! Can anyone explain? TY!

search target area mean he is somewhere in your area, sometimes you need to get closer for him to spawn. Just keep the legwork. (if there is a white line in the army screen between him and another guy expect them to be close... like ambush or unexpected reinforcement).
Red part are outposts i guess.

What about the smoke bomb thing? (Im assuming its a cpt attacking me from afar maybe or too high level for me to detect.)

A destroyer? you should see him. other case would be a trickster but if dont see him it means you are not close enough of him for his bombs. You are still in Minas ithil?

Yeah and I already have a couple awesome war stories from my campaign. I havent died yet but I was saved by a Mysterious Savior once (thanks forthog i owe you one!) and humiliated three times, once was twice in a row i tried to roll away but he got me twice in a row ! hahaha.

Already saw Forthog uh, lucky. Only saw him once xd. For humiliation some guys ALWAYS do it.
Maybe your flash bomb was just enemie artillery? I think you should have noticed it but dont see what it could be if not a Captain.
