Upgrading orc recruits to epic or legendary

How is this generally done aside from recruiting them that way? I have googled it but most of the information I found is from the lootboox era of the game and is outdated. I have on rare occasion seen enemy orcs upgrade from killing me but so far have seen no way to upgrade recruits.

Send him a death threat then let him kill you repeat and he will move up legendary.

the easiest way is probably to just buy the epic / legendary training order. but that's boring.

letting them kill you is okay, but a bit grindy, and then you need to deal with a legendary orc three times your level.

a REALLY grindy way that's a mix of fun and boring at the same time, is to meet an orc, interact with it just enough to make it some degree of nemisis, and then kill it in a creative way, such as purify, doomed, poisioned, balefire, bisected, etc.

sometime they will come back as a legendary orc such as "the machine" or "Flame of war"

but only sometimes.

There is many orders that can give different traits to upgrade your orcs to become epic and one to become legendary.Orders can be bought in garrison with mirian or gain by doin online sieges/vendettas/online pit figths.

Thanks for the responses. Now that I am near end game, I am becoming really interested in experimenting with killing different nemesis orcs in various ways and creating interesting characters to recruit. Is there any certain length of time to wait after killing them? I did read somewhere if you kill too many other orc captains around that time then it somehow doesn't work?
