It's infuriating knowing that this was in the game when the microtransactions were in place. Those orcs you got for real life money could suddenly dissappear without warning. Fortunately the microtransactions were removed so the only thing wasted now is game time. I've had it happen to one of my legendary orcs which is what caused to me to really notice it.
The only thing I haven't checked (and am too lazy to as it would required writing down the names/titles or all the orcs in my army) is if the orcs are moving to other regions and the devs didn't put in something to let you know. I know enemy orcs can follow you to other regions.
the game's set up so that you can always be hounded by someone through the nemisis systgem, if that can't happen, then you're missing one of the biggest draws of the game.
Generally leaving three captains as enemies will prevent your captains from vanishing. For a safe bet though, i only take the fort, and then maybe half of the roster. Then use various tricks to clump all my orcs to one side, with the enemy orcs on the other side.
The way it is set up now seems more like a glitch than an intended game feature, especailly considering the new orcs are automattically revealed instead of the usual way how they start hidden.
It seems one of the bugs they never fixed was the slots taken up by dead captains not clearing out fast enough, or even alloting space for extra captains in the region. Major disappointment.
Now THAT is what i call a necro.
But a bug like that making your guys vanish for some random enemy ones your just beated?
Na, sounds like a waste of time then.
I mean honestly....stuff like that is frustrating as hell. BUT, it's still an incredible game. The first one was already amazing, the second one outdoes it somehow.
I wouldn't have bought the game when it first came out, due to microtransactions and all the other nonsense, but they fixed it up really well. Just my two cents
And that's pretty much a nogo bug for me and game passing reason.
1a) Troll captains are the exception, always prefer Trolls as they easily 1 shot grunts.
1b) Never get more then 1 siege option for a captain, they will die soon anyway and you will lose your money. Only get an option just before an assault, preparing in advance will be a waste of money as they will just be dead by the time you do an assault/defence.
2) You cant secure a region so that only your orcs are on the map, your captains will randomly disappear (not even die, just vanish) and get replaced by enemy captains. Taking over a region is like running up an endless sand dune.
2a) Ive left a region where i had 80% of the captains and the fort, come back after completing a different regions quests and i had perhaps 30% captains left
2b) If you get too many captains they will start to rebel, you can have 3-4 of your captains turn on you at once in the same ambush. This would be super neat if it was rare, but this will just start happening constantly once you have too many captains in a region.
Conclusion
Fun game. Combat system is very nice, only a few annoyances (for no reason only some attacks from grunts can be countered, frequent played stun chains).
Super potential-filled region capture/captain building system is self defeating and ultimately an empty frustrating and disappointing experience.
Well its probably necro aniway, rest in peace. I hope
