Caragors in the Fight Pit
Caragors seem really bad in the fight pits. One of my Uruk always comes in on a Caragor and its usually doesnt attack. If he gets pulled off, the fights over 20 seconds. If he doesn't then he usually just hangs back not doing anything while his pack does the fighting. It's like the AI doesn't know what to do when mounted.

Having a caragor mount is pretty cool looking but in functionality its pretty bad. I would avoid them as much as possible

I haven't found a way to remove a mount, so I avoid adding them. I do think a beastmaster's caragor call is valuable in siege or open world play, though.

And when your captain gets pulled off his mount he's dazed for a while and therefore vulnerable. I have seen a couple of mounted orcs actually attacking while mounted with handheld weapons and spears but most of them hardly do anything. Marksmen do fire arrows when mounted.

It would have been a good thing to have the option of removing a mount yes.

Another thing that's a bit weird is the dire caragor. To me it seems hardly any stronger or more aggressive compared to regular caragors.

Yeah Caragors suck; your Captains are better without them. To a lesser degree, this is true of some Captain/follower combinations as well as the followers can sometimes block your Captain from actually attacking.

I was able to remove a Caragor trait once from a Captain by summoning him, hitting him repeatedly until he aggroed, killing the Caragor, and then re-dominating the Captain. I tried this again with another Captain and it didn't work the second time so my guess is that it's a percentage based chance for the trait to get removed or something buggy/unique happened with my first attempt.

this did work for me, but i did a test on a random uruk, he became deranged soo idk if its really worth in a way to ruin an uruk i think is cool. but i killed the caragor first, then attacked and betrayed him then i had to shun him cause he got iron will so i could get rid of that. ill do another test if iron will and shunning is required.

Time for another necro - the problem with caragor mounts is that I never actually gave that Captain a mount. He just acquired it while leveling up, even through training orders.

I don't know if that's just something that happens to Uruks as they level up or it's just one of the many random traits that can get added, but once it happens on a melee Captain, that guy suddenly becomes trash-tier.

Yeah its a random chance. once they hit epic they also pick up either beast slayer, call reinforcements, beast master.

Beast master can be useful if a Warlord is Mortal Beast Fodder; but other than that.... mounted Caragor Riders are a free kill for Talion + Shadow. Useless in fightpits. It's mostly just a cool gimmick that adds a bit of variety to the Orc pool; but the caragor's aren't nearly aggressive enough when mounted to be useful.
