Sword of Vengeance Level 20 Upgrade

Hey guys this is my first time starting a discussion. Been having a ridiculously hard time trying to get my level 15 sword of veng. to level 20. i have all other vengeance gear equiped except the ring. It says I need to kill an online vendetta target who's at least level 20 WITH AN EXECUTION. So I thought maybe I wasn't doing it right in the first place because maybe my execution was double charged so it may have registered as a brutal execution. So I tried finishing them off with just a regular execution and nope didn't work. Didn't notify me for completion. These captains I've been killing are like 25 or 26 typically and it's online like the requirements say. They are higher than level 20 so it meets that minimum level requirement too. and i'm using the sword of vengeance to kill them. i watched a tutorial of a kid playing on playstation 4 and he did it no problem except when he went to do an execution it didn't cut to the part where the orc gives his final words he just executed the captain with no interruptions. Everytime I kill a captain (with an execution or just slashing them) they get to throw their final words in and then i have to press the button to finish them off and I think maybe that makes it unregister as an execution. So I thought ok ill just fail when it has me finish them off and then try killing them with an execution again but it says they've adapted to executions so it becomes impossible. Any help with this would be awesome. Is there a way I can turn off the function where they throw their final words in so I can just have that uninterrupted execution? Please help me i'm desperate and frustrated.

i had this with the vengence ring. try going to the "quests" menu and mark the sword's "execute level 20 orc" quest to be tracked. i.e. you'll have a little marker on the side of your screen saying if it's done or not. then go kill the target of a vengence mission.

i did that with the ring, and got the quest done fine.

Tracking does not fix anything, it's not the issue here.

It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up for the bow also (use Shadow Strike to kill an enemy). The "cutscene" launches and it does not count as killing the orc with execution/shadow strike. Game is year fix, fix this ♥♥♥♥ already.

Is just a matter of luck, apparently. I was having the same issue levelling my sword of vengeance to 60 (to level to 60 you have to perform a brutal execution).

After about 9 or 10 vendettas, I finally got off a brutal execution without the damned target talking and requiring a qte.

Just look for a target without iron will or dying command, unsure if that was what caused the cutscenes, but the target it finally worked on had neither of those traits. good luck

Thanks guys for all the feedback. Yeah Dhaunas after like 8 or so vendettas if finally let me do an uninterrupted execution and gave me the upgrade. Just a matter of luck i guess. Or the dying will thing like you said.

Hi guys, it doesn't have to be luck, just a pain. The dialogue only triggers the first time. Just let them get out of it and break them again. Still a pain, but less of one than waiting on luck
