Heh. I ended up keeping the very guy who killed me.. couldn't let him go. A dual--wield slayer with arrow, poison, fire and curse immunties, that I turned legendary... ended up getting great strength and thick skin. He repaid me by leading the rebellion "Your okay as far as leaders go, I'm just not into being led" or some such. I re--recruited him then sent him out to kill all the others (after giving them the Bruz treatment on my own of course)... so I now have "Gluk the Traitor" on my assault team. Prolly not a good sign lol
I was wandering through the Forest of Carnen intending to hunt down another Orc named Ishmoz Rotbest to get revenge after he killed me when three of my Uruk's, Zuka the Prankster, Ûkagûka the Worm Killer and Ghura the Crippler, all ambushed me at the same time and went rogue.
I've shamed two of them (Zuka and Ukaguka,) dropping their levels significantly and re-enslaved Ghûra as he's probably one of the toughest non-epic/Legendary captains I've found, and I've every intention to go get the other two after Im done with Ishmoz. (Probably gonna shame them into oblivion to show them how far they can fall.)
I also want to offer props to Monolith. This addition to the Nemisis System (alongside all the other additions made in this game) have really made things more interesting. I already absolutely love it and the way it raises the stakes in the game.
Heh, nice. In hundreds of hours of play, I've had three rebellions. Do you think yours was caused, or random? The first two, I think I know what caused them.
Cruelty in the first (stupid orcs running in front of my sword in fights... got "you're a cruel one master" from two orcs in back to back fights, and background chatter in the fort about over-using cruelty to train orcs right after. One of the orcs telling me I was cruel led the rebellion "I've always hated you" As a side note, with those accidental hits, it's always kind of funny to hear another captains say "Hit him again! or "He deserves it!")
Weakness in the second (I got killed by every Olog I could find trying to upgrade my sword. Totally worth it, got my level 70 legendary sword. Right after I got it, I got a rebellion prefaced with "I could never follow someone so weak")
This one I think and hope was just RNG at play, because I had been trying to make sure NOT to trigger a rebellion at this fort. I've been curating these guys since level 20, and brought most of them up through lower levels. I got "You're okay as a leader, I just don't like being led" from one traitor, "I can never give up my devotion to Sauron" from another and "This is a nice army, it needs a Uruk in charge of it" from a third.
Regardless, my response is always the same: Shame all but one with "worse than death" (maybe a couple times if I never liked the guy), pick one I want to save, and just shame him. Thankfully none of those has picked up or kept Iron WIll. Re-recruit that one and send him on kill missions against all the others no matter how much I like their stats. Nothing else happens in the fort till they're all dead.
I guess some Orcs just wanted to stop me from ending their lives. I do remember two of the Orcs I killed (by executing them with my sword rather than tossing them off cliffs) said something that did kinda stick with me when I executed them.
"You're a cruel one gravewalker. Do what ya gotta do..."
Felt a bit bad for them to be honest...
My means of clearing Uruks may be considered particularly cruel as well, since I've learned you can throw them off cliffs from a YouTube video, so that's led to me lobbing alot of them off the open sides of my fortresses all the way down below into the void.
Either way, it was a totally unexpected event, and for as tough as the fight was (3 captains to 1) it was a right blast picking them off one by one. I've dealt with both 1 of the rebels as I mentioed originally, as well my original target of Ishmoz (accidentally killed him during an attempt to shame him all the way to level 1, he died at 6) so Im free to pursue the other two traitors.
I intend to shame them all the way into nothingness and leave them to wander Mordor... forever...
