Extreme GPU usage
This game turns my PC into a furnace. Any ideas? I have two gaming PC's and the weakest one runs relatively cool with this game @1440p, I do get huge frame drops when near grass, which made me lower the settings quite a bit, with a mix of high and medium. I feel it does not do justice to the game's visuals. Runs at low 80's fps sometimes, dropping to mid 50's fps. Card never reaches more than 55c.

As a reference:

i5 6600k OC'd @4.2ghz
20gb cheap ram @2133mhz
EVGA GTX 1070

With my most powerful rig, I don't really get much improvement, other than a 5-10 fps gain on Ultra @1440p, but my GPU is always at 99% and it will hit 80c. I'm honestly affraid of playing this game.

Kind of pointless to build a new rig to get better visuals, if I have to lower them as well.

Problematic computer specs:

i5 8600k OC'd @locked 4.3Ghz on 6 cores
16gb G.Skill ram @3000mhz
MSi GTX 1080ti Gaming X

Thanks! I just tried that. It does keep temps around 70-75 now. But man, is it loud! My other card (1070) is so silent and cool in comparison, even with this game.

I've noticed the clock seems to increase itself close to 2000mhz, despte the clock should be around 1500mhz. I haven't overclocked this card, nor I intend to. I'm guessing this is normal for the 1080ti? Sorry, I am just getting used to this thing.

Oh gee, I didn't know a gpu would automatically overclock itself. I know my i7 4790k was supposed to be at 4.0GHz and automatically overclocked itself to 4.3GHz.

I was doing some research. The thing has somthing called GPU Boost 3.0. It increases the clock automatically until it reaches certain temperature. So the more you cool it, the more it will push itself. Decreasing the temp limit in Afterburner seems to control this. Mine was set at 80c. I have decreased the limit by 10 degrees and the card will stay way cooler now.
