Investigating clues on PC

So. I have one hell of a problem with those - even after reading the other few QandA about it.
I do get the idea of it : I go with either W,A,D or S to bring the blue trail into thighter focus, and then I right click and drag my mouse in one direction (or in a circle). While, of course, keeping the W or whatever pressed.
Il tried it again and again. Nothing. I just don't get it. I am forgetting something ? Having the manip out of order ?

Thanks for any explanation. I'm sure it's horribly easy, but I'm kind of lost (and frustrated) with it, really.

I use an xbox one controller so its different for me but I have to move arond both thumb sticks untill the clue or elven word comes into focus. If you have a controller mabye try that? Good luck

From what I gather, you do have to do the same on PC - holding the key AND right-clicking/moving the mouse around at the same time. But when I try, nothing happens. I have the narrowed blue trail when pressing the good key, nothing else.
And I donc't have a controller, sadly. But I'll try again.

If anyone else has ideas or an explanation... I tried it again, to no avail. I must be missing something, everyone say it's incredibly easy.

It's left mouse button,not right.Just use WASD to make trail as clear as possible,after that hold LMB and move mouse.

It's a hinky system from a KM persepective. It was written that way for box-gamers and PC-controllers. Like stated above, use the directional buttons (WADS, by default) and the attack button and camera control (LEFT mouse button and mouse movement, by default) to bring it into focus. Unless you're using a left-handed mouse, you should be holding down the LEFT mouse button. After a few times, you'll get the hang of it.

The same system is used for collecting Ithildin words.

Correct me if I'm wrong : the trail is meant to change when I move my mouse ? Because I hold my key, left-click (thanks for that, by the way, I reset the parameters to default for this part, just to be sure) and move my mouse, and... the trail doesn't change ?
It just keeps... bubbling over the place and vaguely distorting itself, but as for to react to my mouse mouvement, I don't see any difference.
Did you guys had to move it around long before finding the right... focus, or wathever it is called ?

It's meant to be moved in different directions. If left/right isn't doing anything, try up/down. If that doesn't do anything, try diagonals. This game is meant to be played with a controller and they are laughably easy with the analogue sticks. Takes maybe five seconds to get them done with a controller.

I did try it from every direction, that's the problem... I circled, and slashed, and up-and-downed the heck out of the thing. And as far as I can see, the trail reacts to the mouse-movements as much as to the fact that I'm starting to curse it every way to sunday.
Seriously, who put this stupid idea in the game ?
... sorry, didn't mean to go off on you like that. I'm grateful for you guys trying to help, really ! Guess I'm back at giving it a go, and trying to move more - if possible.

i go like this: press w, move the mouse in all 4 directions - continue with next key.
Hint: Sometimes it takes up to 1 sec to accept the combination

I'm seriously thinking of letting it go. I mean, one day of download and thirty bucks to end up stuck at fve hours into the story ? By a stupid, badly PC-transported mini-game ?

I actually cannot make the damn thing work. I press the key that gives me the narrower trail, left-click while still pressing the key in question, and move the mouse around. All over the place. And, no, I don't get anything.
So either I'm doing it wrong - but unless I'm mistaken, it's the good, so-called easy manipulation - or the mini-game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ and idiotic (which, considering that Talion has wraith vision, kind of is, but that's besides the point)
All I'm saying is : I'm stuck here.And I'm very happy for you that you managed it. I'm actually still trying.

You're right, I was snappish and I'm sorry about it. If that's the case, then you should restart the game and try again. If it doesn't work after a couple of times, then you should report about it to Monolith.

No hard feelings. I know trolls can be just insulting, especially when you give time to explain something, only to have the person have a laugh at it. And I was quite snappish, too.

I just can't be certain I'm the one messing it up somehow, or if it's a real, in game-problem. Everyone tells that's it's simple, so I suspect I'm the one who's butchering it somehow, I just... can't find the catch.
