Last Chance / Death Defying Broken on PC?

I've been playing this for days. Anytime I get a last chance for myself, or a last attempt for death defying captains I've NEVER had one be successful (~25). I don't see any rings, I just see a mouse button or a key to press, and I press it quickly and repeatedly -- always always miss?!


What on earth am I doing wrong? I don't see any rings, or places to move a cursor, just a key/mouse button name.

Platform: PC

You should watch a video to see exactly how it should appear, but globally the button you have to press is contained within a blue circle. To sucessfully not die, you have to press the right button when another circle that is red becomes smaller than this blue circle, but it starts larger.
Let's say that last chance lasts 3 seconds. You want to press your button at around 1.5 second for it to suceed, not earlier, and not after the 3 seconds of course.

Are you sure that's true for PC? (I've been trying to search for PC videos - so far no luck) but that sounds just like the way it was in Shadow of Mordor which I would expect .. I just don't have any circles of any kind, blue, red... nothin

Yes, that is exactly how it plays on PC.

You need to press the correct key once it is within the blue circle, if you press too early, you will die.

Go into options->game settings and make sure "combat mini-game prompts" is turned on.

Some orcs (assassins) have no chance, which prevent last chances.

To me though, it sounds like you're pressing the key too quickly. Next time DON'T press it, give it a moment and wait, watch, and see.

You'll also have to do this in order to kill a lot of orcs, typically Overlords.

update your video card drivers. (this is normaly the problem for screwed up visuals and probably missing ones).

verify game integrity

Try different game settings (low, med, high).

Try the game in full screen/borderless.

Reinstall the game.

Stop trolling :P

Contact WB games and send them your DxDiag info.
Start menu (right click the it on Win 10). Go to Run and type DxDiag and GOGOGOGOGOOGOGOGOGOGOGOGO

Let if finish scanning, save it to desktop. Go to WB site and find your way to get in contact with them or whatever. Send them your frustrated message of everything you tried with the DxDiag attached to it.

Probably won't get fixed. WTF are they going to do when your drivers are all probably up to date.

I don't know if something updated or what, but they are showing up now. I did nothing?! Thanks everyone for their help. Part of me thinks I was hitting the key very very quickly, but I'm not THAT quick. One thing that did change was I just added the 2nd chance attribute, and never tested that yet, so maybe whatever that was fixed the 1st chance problems too?? No idea, backing away slowly...

Yeeeah I just got a Death Defying Captain and the blue/red showed up, killed the dude, easy peasy. So whatever bug it was, it clearly got fixed when i added the 2nd attempt skill. WTH!
