Failed to initialize video mode... again!
So to summarize, it was working fine after the Dec 19th Patch 1.09 but after a couple of hours I came back to play again, it was broken once again! I had submitted two tickets but no response, posted on multiple threads and no response. Please just get on this! I've searched the many discussions on this forum and tried ALL of the "solutions" but still no success.

Crash details:
So to be clear this crash only happens when my xbox one controller is plugged in(my preffered method of playing), but once it is no longer connected the game works perfectly fine and no complaints there but I just can't get used to the keyboard controls and it is not as fun for me!

My Specs:
CPU: Intel I7-6700HQ
RAM: 16 GB
Video Card: Nvidia GTX 1070
OS: Windows 10 Home

Solutions I tried:

-removing/editing the 'render.cfg file' ; so the game can re-initialize some settings but nope!
-run it adminstrative mode
-run steam in adminstrative mode
-re-install the game (3 times)
-verified the file integrity (10 times)
-tried to plug in HDMI cable while trying to play
-updated all my drivers!

So overall I am extremely disappointed from this and I hope that you guys can fix this as soon as you can! I am sure from going through the forum that MANY people had similar problems and there is absolutely no short term solution. This is not what I had expected from a game I paid $100 for because I was excited to actually PLAY it but it seems that I can no longer even do that!

Don't use Steam, run it straight from the .exe. Also, feel free to delete the render.lasterror file that's in the same folder with the render.cfg
I also did a fresh install for my AMD drivers. Use their cleanup tool before you reboot.

Hope that helps.

Someone found a temporary solution on other post :

"Okay so for those who are having this problem when they plug in a controller, there is a temporary solution. First unplug your controller and launch the game, if the game launches without the controller plugged in then you're in luck because this might just work. Go to settings > display settings. then change the view size from full screen to windowed, and save that setting configuration, and then finally plug in your controller! It's a step down from full screen but it still is enough to enjoy the game enough. I've been asking for a solution for a while and this is the only way it'll work. Anyways I hope this helps!'

it's ok fore me

Still happening and I don't have a controller hooked up. Fresh install/drivers, etc. How to get into windowed mode if I can't even get to the menu screen? .cfg file somewhere?

For me, Windows 10 I found it here. Look for "render.cfg"

As the 75gb game is... I avoided reinstalling, however, just bit the bullet... Fixed my problems. I did manually delete any existing config data before reinstalling. Not sure if that'll solve it, but I know I avoided having to reinstall this massive game for a while looking for a fix.

This is still happening to me, i have never hade the problem before but got it after the latest large Windows update, now i can't run the game at all, have been trying all the solutions ppl have posted on forums, but nothing works. would be great to find a solution that works...permanent...

I have no Controller connected, so that is not the prob.

Running a GeForce 1070...but do not think this is the prob...

They realy need to fix this fast...i want to play the game again...

Try deleting (or renaming to "render.old") the "render.cfg" file and let it make a new one. Try running it windowed at first. Change one setting to how you want it and retry. Do this each time. If one change makes it stop working, change it back then change something else. It's a pain, I know but should yeild results. Good luck!
