How does sword breaking work?

Looking for input from a guy who has the ability to look at the coding for game mechanics, namely sword breaking.

My suspicion is sword breaking is gated behind certain variables, such as how recent the last break was. There may also be a cap on overall sword breaks, another possibility why i am not getting breaks is that my dead breaker olog is sitting in a glitched captain slot.

If anyone can provide insight, much appreciated.

I never had this happen either. I never encountered a sword-breaker.

Yeah I havent also encountered any sword breakers and I'm well into 80+ hours into the game.

I want them to break my sword. It will +5 level after repair.

Same as above, 60+ hours and 2 playthroughs of them gave and i've never broken my sword.

From what I can tell the sword breaking appears to be random and is pretty rare. So far in my play time it has only happened once. It was sometime ago and it seems it has to be done by an Olog. The Olog was just a random Olog grunt (Non-Captain). However, I would like to know if Olog Captains can break swords as well.

Another area of concern to bring up is can you have Legendary swords broken? Or is it only limited to Epic and below?
I am trying to get this to happen again.

Oh wait, now i remember this has happpened me, but only once before, you see i was capturing a fort and i died to an Olog overlord so when i was dead he just randomly picked up my sword crushed it into pieces. Yes it it very rare and everything its also pretty cool, you can get your sword back by killing the captain/overlord that destroyed it, i dont remember if it got any buffs from that or did you just get it back but yeah.

So an Olog Overlord was able to break your sword? If so then it sounds like basically any Olog regardless their rank status can break swords then.

Yeah i suppose so, but i was so suprised when it happened lol he even had some cool lines for it everything

I thought I almost had my sword broken once, I was in a pitched battle and there were orcs everywhere and the captain i was fighting grabbed my sword and I had to rapidly smash the B button to break free(xbox controller) i thought if I failed that he would have broken my sword.

For me to there wasn't any chance to do some anything, you see he killed me and then broke my sword on front of me.

Had this a few times when dieing to an Olog Captain, Worth trying if you have a good sword you want to level a but but not too sure if it will break a legendary, was only use an epic at the time

I can confirm legendary gear that can be broken down into mirian will break, but not the other legendary gear that cannot be broken down. I cannot confirm gear will break twice. Also, it seems like once you have a sword break a couple times it gets harder and harder to have another sword break. Like the game is trying to limit how much it happens.

Any olog can break any sword when the chance matches up, i think. no certain percentage known, but a non-captain olog from an assault broke my legendary. it needed leveling too, so it was an 'aw yiss' moment when i got it back
