Do xp boost continue ticking while offline?

I have a few and was wonder if they pause while the game is closed.

YES, experience boosts will continue to tick even when offline.

I checked the time on an experience boost I had active, quit to the main menu, waited 1 minute, and then continued my current game. By the time I loaded back in, 2 minutes had passed on the timer. I haven't tried quitting the game completely, but I assume it works the same way.
