Right click on your sound in the bottom right of the taskbar and click on Playback Devices, next ensure your headset/speakers are set to default. Once done, Right click on your headphones/speakers and select properties. Then, select advanced and look for: 24bit 48000 hz Studio Quality and then save.

Ingame ensure your Settings is either Surround or Stereo.

Hope it helps!

This fixed my stuttering also. It used to lag due to audio issue. Thanks.

Thanks for the Tips and Tricks, I already tried all of them and none of them helped - but I found the solution to my problem. I had a software called Nahimic2 (audio solution raw file), that was incompatible with the game and probably with Cuphead aswell, because the same issue appeared with that game -after deactivating or deleating the software the audio worked just fine, cutscenes and gameplay had audio. The software itself was probably bugged or not installed correctly, I am not sure, put thats how i fixed the audio issue in M-E: SoW.

Uninstall nahimic 2 and realtek audio HD if you have them

Still didn't work for me

for those who might stumble on this in the future, this is what worked for me:

After spending a couple of hours installing and reinstalling drivers, I thought to fiddle with the settings a bit more.
System spec
- CPU: AMD
- MB: Gigabyte
- OS: Win 11
- Audio driver: Realtek
These are the steps that I did:
1. I manually updated my Realtek audio driver to the latest version, as win 11 was not able to pick it up by itself for some reason, it was version 6.0.88xxx and I manually updated it to 6.0.9225.1. I got the driver from here. Notice, if you are using intel or another motherboard, then get the latest driver from them.
2. I opened Realtek HD audio manager, and under speaker configuration, I set the Headphone Virtualization to true: https://imgur.com/a/p6atHRG
3. ???
4. profit
probably unrelated settings but might be worth bringing it up since I can't bother to A/B test to find what specifically made it work.
1. in the same Realtec control panel, I set the default format to 24Bits, 48kHz
2. in Windows sound control panel, I also set the format to 24Bits, 48kHz
Another thing worth bringing up.
In Windows sound control panel should be able to change something called spatial sound, set it to off, as it ♥♥♥♥♥ up the sound.
