Game Crashing on Startup
Hello, I cannot play SoW due to the fact that when I launch the game it goes to a black screen and then immediately closes. Sometimes it will say the game has stopped responding. This is pretty much immediately after launching the game. I don't even get to the main menu.

msvcrt is microsoft visual runtime, but mine is uptodate. dunno.

updated drivers

Tried doing some of the hacks people had with Shadow of Mordor back in the day, and they have not worked either.

may try and reinstall, but that download tho

Pretty much the same problem for me, but with ucrtbase.dll

Could you report back if you chose to reinstall? Thanks!

I managed to fix this by updating my NVidia drivers and then restarting the computer, running Steam as an Admin.

Are you using GeForce Game Ready Driver 387.92? It's the most recent one.

Not doing much on my end tho

Please try:

Possible fix that worked for me for the crash on startup. Go to Documents\WB Games\Shadow Of War and then open up the file called render.cfg and at the very bottom set "Windowed" to "2.000000" Which sets it to Borderless. Not sure why but I cannot run the game in Fullscreen. When I try to switch the setting to full screen in game it just causes the game to immediately crash. Hope this might help some folks out there.

This worked for me. I also updated my Nvidia drivers, etc. but this was what fixed it.

My "Documents\WB Games\Shadow Of War" is empty.

Hah

That worked @unc15. Thank you. That's the weirdest simplest fix I have encountered thus yet.

@ssathh Try moving or deleting your WB folder outright. When the game loads up, it will automatically create default config files everytime unless there's instructions there. So deleting it, run the game and let it crash, and then modify the render.cfg might help?

Any way you or someone else can share the content of the WB folder? It creates the folder when I delete it, but it´s still empty...

but I do think that is whats causing the problem
