weird i got the same error but it said msvcrt.dll was the faulty one. For some reason i can get it to launch when i dont have a controller plugged in, and i dont change any settings. I used my config from my other pc and thats what at least got it to launch. I have a 960M.
here are my config files from my other pc. i can get the game to launch by disabling the large page mode in the cfg file. but changing any setting makes it crash

Link to get the latest driver:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
That driver is the problem. Roll back to driver 385.41 and game will launch
Tried all the fixes in this thread and others, still does not work on my GTX 1050, I have given up
In RivaTuner you just have to add the ShadowOfWar.exe and set "Application Detection Level" to "None" and it's done! It's finally starting now.
This also works for me. Thank you very much :)
