What's pre-loading?
When I went into my library it said shadow of war was available for "pre-loading" and all I could find on it from a google search is how to play games pre-loaded early using a vpn so, what is it and why is it done?

Downloading it before it's released so you don't have to wait on release day to play.

means you can download 99% of the game now so you dont have to wait on the day of release

You can install the game in advance, thoug it will be encrypted and inaccessable untile launch. Depending on hte time it takes to decrypt on release, you can play it faster than if you had to wait to download it. Particularly if you have slow internet.

pre-loading is allowing the user to download the gamefiles (a big part of them) early to ease the convience to not be downloading it on release. Also helps with Servers not being overwhelmed that EVERYONE is downloading it at the same time. It is basically you downloading the game, and waiting for the greenlight to click "Play". Now you aren't wasting time downloading all 65GB (or more) on release taking up half your day (if you have slow speeds) or your playtime (if you share the computer with family), or any other list of reasons.

It's faster to just download the full game on release, the decryption on preload is slow as fûck

Downloading most of the game in compressed and coded shut files, will still be a small download on release date to open the files and uncompress them and for the few files that where left out.

Could be wrong on that, but the download on release date is always small so don't worry this gets most of the files downloaded for people with slow net ahead of time. Have to keep in mind countries like the one in which I live don't have fast speeds for everyone, yeah the united states sorta ranks behind a lot of places on internet speeds and people that have the fast speeds.

For some internet speeds for a 65gb download is slower than the time to decompress the games preload......so
