How many actual stages are there to Shadow Wars?
So, pretty much I kept losing my fortresses (cuz I suk) and retaking them, and after I retook my last one, Shadow Wars Stage V popped up and now I need to do it all over again.

Does the game only progress if I successfully DEFEND all my forts or when all of the stages are expired?

Stage 5 is the last one I've been told, haven't finished it myself yet

There are 10 stages, 20 total sieges.

Yeah, man. But I'll probably power through it anyway. Or just watch the ending on YouTube.

At stage 9 now. Getting annoyed

When entering stage 6 I had to look it up....20 defence sieges in a row.....really?....I was really happy with the first three acts but act 4....really?!?

TBH, just wtch the end scene on Youtube. There is no more story, just more sieges. Just treat Act 4 as endgame freeroam, with the occasional defence if you feel like it.

This is basically it. The actual end game is the same except its against online fortresses.

That is a bit of an overstatement. I got to stage 10 in only one day.
Well, I'm up at Stage 8 now, so I don't think I'll back down just yet.

I'm actually getting better at defending my fortresses now. :)

They are a nice place to get replacement captains too. I remember losing too many orcs in the earlier and easier stages but they made good replacements.

well I am not sure about 10 stages and 20 sieges. I am on stage 8 (successfully defended all btw) and now it gives me Nurnen, Crith Ungol and Gorgoroth (yeah 3 in one stage). so I am not sure what will stage 9 or even 10 hold :)

BTW my technique is quite simple. KILL EM ALL :)

jokes apart, before battle visit the region and either level up your warchiefs in Pits and Recruit more stronger Ocr captains. I found two things very helping, One is to place Epic Orcs into warchief slots because they got Epic traits and most of them got their own gangs (legendary is best if you got one) if they have no gang then give them one by training orders. Secondly assign each warchief two or more body guards as you have noticed that attacking warchiefs have their own gangs and bodyguards so to match that much firepower you need your own firepower. Also get one legendary max level up as your personal bodyguard (he will be quite handy in battles)

Now in battles actually, you need to finish off the attacking warchiefs as quickly as you can, your own orcs will be distributed among victory points and will defend them which gives you time to tackle each warchief. NOTE killing warchief is important and not the body guard because killing warchief will advance the siege to your victory. Also try not to kill all the attacking orc captains/warchief instead recruit them so you can turn enemy firepower against him.

Finally, consult the attacking army portfolio and learn their weaknesses and prepare your defenses accordingly. Also never use sprouts (fire/posion) as your defenses because it will also affect your own army. Instead get IRON gates which will help you in one way and that is keeping enemy out for a while and gives you oppertunity to kill one or two warchief before they even set foot in your fortress.

so act 4 is basically 20 defending missions (or 20 siege to retake it..or a mix)? does it progress in stages if i just lose and assault again? I suck at defending, but prefer to take commanders one by one/infiltrating and then kill the overlord. can I do it?
