Missed skill mission in Minas Ithil
I'm now on Act 2. Is it gone forever?

You go back in Act 3, dont worry.

And you can go back before that. During Act 2, after you capture the first fortress, you can freely Fast Travel between all the regions, including Minas Morgul (as it's now known); the side-quests are all still there.

I dont think you can go back in act 2, it lacks any kind of marker during act 2 wheras the others each get a fast travel marker, an army marker and a quest marker if the zoen has a quest. Minas Morgul has none in Act 2 as the Witch King is still redecorating. I remember checking myself and guessing that we would be able to return at a later date which as it turns out we do.

No you can in act 2, It just takes a while. After the first fortress I checked the map and if you zoom in on Minas Ithil you can fast travel there.

It wouldn't let me go back by using the map for some reason... Instead go in your quest list and pick one located there and use the fast travel option in that menu. After that it showed up on the map for me.
