NVIDIA is a pain in the nut
GL!
I had the same problem -> Game absolutely Won't Start - only 1 sec table with starting and then nothing. / Problem SOLVED !!! / Forget on uninstaling other programs or searching for game folder in your documents. Just open list of your installed programs and search for Microsoft visual C++. Uninstall all 2015 versions and newest. Then install this version: MICROSOFT VISUAL C++ 2015 REDISTRIBUTABLE (X64) - 14.0.23026 It worked for me (win7 64bit Nvidia GTX 570M) If you have same problem so try another version of C++ I think the problem is on 90% in versions of it.

It appears that Comodo was blocking Shadow of War. Unlocking it from Comodo's menu fixed my problem.
This worked for me.
(Althou I didn't download that from your link, that looked somewhat shady to me (Not trying to imply anything, just... it wasn't in english), but straight from Microsoft site I found by googling the version name)
Thanks!
Right-click ShadowOfWar.exe -> Compatibility -> Compatibility Mode (Dropdown box) -> Windows 7 (My OS)
Also set the privilege Level to run the program as an administrator by default.
It's what worked for me. Hope this helps :)
Sorry about the necro. But help about this issue is scarce. So I wanted to confirm the fix.
