Normal vs Nemesis
I started on normal and switched to nemesis after taking the second fort in act 2.

Since then i did not notice any difference in combat, only a higher number of ambushes and betrayel.

Am i wrong or is combat absolutely the same on both difficulties?

I've played on nemesis from the start so can't talk about the actually combat. I do know that on nemesis the Last Chance is limited to 1 chance unless you get the perk which adds an additional chance.

Damage you take hasn't changed either? I always felt like I took a bunch of damage on Nemesis, but haven't touched normal.

didn't really notice anything. maybe it's now 3 hits instead of 4? at least there is no big difference. should have started on nemesis, too .

Well you said you switched in act 2 so you would have gotten way better armor since then. An easy way to tell the different is to use the base armor and let an orc hit you a couple of times to see the damage difference on both difficulties.

I started on normal but it felt too easy so I restarted on nemesis and it was worth it. Orcs hit much harder and I've actually had to pay attention and deal with the grunts, which even caused a few captains to slip away early game leading to more entertaining battles.

It feels like more attacks cause stun effect on nemesis as well, removing any built up might. I also don't recall poison removing my ability to sprint in normal. Not sure if fire or curse were beefed up yet. Only other change I've noticed is a lot more orcs show up with the no last chance traits, but they just give you a reason to prey on weaknesses or use your elven fury if things are getting too dicey.

I did the same thing as you OP, but I did feel the change. They started to hit much harder, and captains would adapt to my tactics much faster. Say they didn't have vault-breaker as a trait, if I spam it too much, they adapt to it really fast. I used to have problems with the grunts as well, but now I got the skill to kill them on a perfect counter, so it's a lot better.

I don't know if that's tied to Nemesis difficulty or my bad luck, but I had 3-5 captains ready to whoop my butt. From the description, I guess it also changes item drop?
Although I would guess on Nemesis enemies do more damage, because your health bar depletes fast, something like 3-4 hits and you're dead.
Could be what people said above and since you got better gear, you don't see a difference.
Or it might be just a bug that here is no difference.

I finished the story on normal then switched to nemesis, i've noticed a little more difficulty mainly from damage ouput and the reduced timer on the last chance thing but nothing major, maybe its different if you start out with it?

I noticed that the time to react for counters has been reduced significantly on nemesis compared to that of normal for sure.

Atleast I feel like I get hit a lot more.

Playing on normal level, I will then be able to fully use multiplayer mode, rankings, etc?

yes
Come act 4 it feels like every captain has much higher health and takes a while to whittle down. Even with legendary gear. Especially the Ologs.

I've played on nemesis since the start and it's felt much harder than the first game did. Not only do you get more ambushes and betrayals but the captains will adapt to your combat style much faster.

The problem is that you started nemesis after you've gained a bunch of perks and are higher level, I personally think it makes the beginning much harder, and no matter what in this you probably become OP at some point.

Damage taken from all sources feels higher on Nemesis. It doesn't really feel more difficult, however.
Edit: Ambushes and betrayals don't really make the game more difficult imo. It's still the same captains you have to defeat.

Which has been awesome by the way because it's made collecting gems and upgrading them and your gear much more important.

After you unlock a few of the perks like another second chance and kill grunts with a well timed counter and stuff like that it makes it quite a bit easier and feels like the first game again where you can take tons of enemies at once. Still a little harder though, I still find myself having to run away for a second and suck life from trash mobs every now and then. I just started Act 2 though.

But I've died way more in this than I ever did in the first game, it's been awesome to play on the hardest difficulty since the beginning. Starting to lose that feeling though and feeling OP again.
