Fight pits
So is it just me or is the fight pits AI really bad?......

ive watched over 20 matches of my followers and the enemies stand and scream at each other while their followers stand idle in the backround or if they are ranged shoot everything but the enemy(s). also i noticed the captains only spaming one grab attack or standing still till they are pummeled to death.

for example a feral captain with the claws ability will spam their grab, back away, then do it again....and again......and again. no matter how many enemy followers are around him hitting him to death, he doesnt maneuver or focus on anything else except the enemy captain...

Notice how nemisis missions of cptains vs captains they actually utilize their abilities ALOT more than in the pits i feel like their traits, wether good or bad, dont really exist in the pits. and its all a matter of randomness unless their mortally weak to fire, poison, curse weapons.

and the camera randomly rotating and switching as well as not allowing you to turn it off gets a little annoying.

The fights have a 2minute timer(why?), the fights last 20 seconds or less(max 30) and thats without either captains having followers. kinda dissapointing ur captains dont get very much out of winning other than 3-4 levels (vs a high or super low lvl enemy who can sometimes be epic or legendary)

Also the levels for the different pit difficulties should just scale based on your captains level, why not just make it an even match up level wise with the difficulty having a higher chance of epic enemies and legendary? with a better chance to have your follower gain traits or epic/legendary titles? or even just trade weaknesses to something else if they win vs something they were weak to?

TLDR; fight pits are super cool n all but underwhelming tbh. EDIT: having this problem on NEMISIS mode. outside of the pits the captains hit harder than a truck, im lvl 44 and i get one shot(i have gear equal or 1-2 lvls below mine)

my lvl 50 lost vs lvl 20, didn't perform single attack, was just rolling around, standing in place, getting hit, rolling, standing...

i once lost a 56 legendary against a 53 normal, cause my orc was chasing the caragor and did not fight back at all

i lost all of my epics and legendaries to idle.....frrom being 20lvls higher to being same lvl'd. its like the computers brain just breaks, its like a preschool fight club.....lemme remind you guys that this is on NEMISIS MODE -.-" also ive noticed that when i capturedmy 2nd fortress (after my first one had all captains captured AND high lvl'd) i came back to my first fort and everyone was gone(not killed) just "poof" gone. be careful n keep a close asf eye on your forts or your caps will disappear with zero rhyme or reason

The AI in Fighting Pits is atrocious and really have to get improved, it's horrible that the AI seems to devolve into Easy AI when playing on Nemesis difficulty.

It'd be great if we could get their attention so if people are reading this topic then please bump even if you're not sure if this is an issue that you have.

I have the same issue. Every. Single. Fight. My guy might do 1 or 2 attacks the entire time, the rest they just stand there getting hit. Like, "Where was this when you were beating the hell out of me?"

Things like Ologs taking up a slot in 1v1 fights when attacking captains can really screw things up.
My Captain = X
Enemy captain = Y
My Olog = Z
Y attacking X
Z attacking Y
Y deals damage to X
Z deals almost no damage to Y
X can not defend himself against Y due to only 1v1 being allowed in melee.
X is dead due to acting like a punching bag

That's some Easy Difficulty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AI being active in fighting pit.

I love the idea of it and I have seen some awesome fights and great comebacks but it definitely needs improving. I'd love to see an online implementations, where you can upload your best captain, or maybe even a team of captains, then watch how they fare against other's teams.

and if they have any traits tailord to "brightlord" temporarily changed to "orcs"
for example "last stand" applies to facing "x enemy(s)" alone

i'm surprised the AI gets so stupid when the game has 100% of it's focus on a pit fight. in a normal fight when the AI system should be very busy it works great. in a pit fight when it has plenty of time for a few Ai's, it's as dumb as a brick

This happened to me but I think it was because I hadn't done the fort defense quest yet. Most of my good guys had been replaced by a bunch of random enemy captains that the game was preparing to use against my defense. It was pretty annoying considering I'd spent all the previous night leveling them all in the fight pits.

I also have a legendary in another zone who never attacks with his main weapon. He's an archer, who rides a caragor and spawns with two Olog-Hai's. The Olog-Hai's charge in and pin the enemy in a corner while my archer just rides around in circles until the timer runs out and neither side wins.

Get one with enraged by everything and immunity to the primary elements and if it's a berzerker thats even better it will attack non stop for the entire fight.

In the fight pits you want one with less abilitys but more reason to attack.

A couple factors players dont take into consideration that you can easily observe in every pit fight is that when a Captain has followers with him only 2 of them are permitted to attack at once, this leaves the captian as the "odd ball" to fire only when there are gaps on the attacking followers. Ususally they will waste this with some rediclious move evasion or taunt. If the enemy has no followers they are pure attack and can attack the most hostile threat to them. Meaning they have a HUGE upper hand if they attack the followers first then the Captians in most cases. I believe this is a poorly designed AI bug that disallows anything but ranged spearmen (who also have a chance of hitting your own) from attacking constantly as a formed group.
You will notice this stame type of thing when a orc is mounted, they will not use thier primary weapon even if its upgraded to attack except on rare occasions. Instead they will ride the mount in to attack untill it is killed or they are pulled off.

So because of how the AI is programmed, Squads can be both benifit and fault to the matches in pit fights. This is not as applicable in the game world though as all units are permitted to attack at will. Same applies to mounted captians.

You also need to do a deep investment of STUDY on your targets and your champions fighting them. Note the enemy fears, mortal weakness, Enrage triggers (especially dangerous as it makes them near unstopable killing machines) and of course note things about if they are beast slayers. Dont randomly throw your champions into fights. Choose your battles and win far more often. Yes its possible for a 15 to kill a 50+ if the conditions are right. But there are a huge number of variables in the fights that from reading above most players have no clue about.

In ending. Game needs AI rework on pit fights. All npcs should be attacking just as they would in the game world.
