Massive FPS drops in Minas Ithil
My game manages to maintain an average of 50fps throughout Cirith Ungol and Minas Ithil. But after fast travelling to the Haedir tower near the giant pit (colloseum) my game was averaging 32fps. The game jumped backed to 50fps if I looked away from the pit irrespective of where I was standing or what was going on screen. To check it I fast travelled to another haedir tower diagonally opposite to the pit. Again when my camera was looking away from the pit I got good FPS but looking towards the pit tanked the FPS. It is really crazy especially when the game is able to maintain a steady framerate for most parts of the game.

My specs are:
CPU- i5 4690k
Ram - 8gb
GPU - Gtx 960 2gb

and my settings were:
Lightning - Medium
Mesh - High
Shadows - Medium
Texture - Medium
Texture Filtering - High
Ambient Occlsuion - Low
Vegetation - Medium
Tesselation - ON
Depth of Field - ON
Motion Blur - ON
Large Page File - Off

If anyone noticed similar FPS drops or found a solution please share.

I tried playing around with the settings but no change. The FPS took further hit on higher settings but the lower settings showed no change. Currently I just locked the FPS to 30 and Im enjoying the game but its kind of annoying how I can do more than 50fps but I have to lock it at 30 to avoid headache inducing FPS drops.

Yeah I know these comments were going to come. With all respect I agree that its not right up there with top of the line builds or the latest 10 series cards. But its still pretty solid. It averaged 50fps in the benchmarks and it does run well above in most areas of the game. Also this very PC gave solid 1080p performance in Witcher 3 RotR Metal Gear PP Dishonored 2 DOOM ( Basically all recent AAA games) without any issues. Don't throw around the term potato PC loosely or because it makes you feel better about your pc. People with 1080 and 1080tis are facing similar problems and having their fps locked at 30. Take your time to look around in the threads and thanks for a very constructive solution.

The game uses 1800mb of Vram at Medium Texture and Medium Shadows which is well below the 2096mb on my Gfx. The Vram indicator shows green which means I havent even maxed out on my 2gb vram. Also this seems to be an isolated issue in that particular area only as all other areas of the game run well above 50fps.

I was only mucking about pal no need to write me your
Life story :p do you happen to have Msi afterburner or another sort of monitering tool to check your cpu/GPs usage ? For comparison purposes I'm running a worse gpu then you are and I got 65-75 in the benchmark with the exact settings are you as that's what the game recommend .

Yup I did test it with MSI and the clocks and temps all seem to be fine. What I did notice is that restarting the game and starting from the tower near the pit cleared the issue but i fast travelled to two places and came back to the pit again and this time the FPS took a hit. Its really crazy so I just locked the game @ 30 and having fun. Cheers m8

Have you found a solution to this problem? I have the exact same problem in Minas Ithil and I am rocking 2 GTX 1080tis so it's definitely not a performance problem...
