Act 3 made me really sad.
Do you guys remember at the start of the game when Talion gave up the ring to Shelob so he can have Celebrimbor back?

He didn't care about the power of the ring, and he didn't even care about whether or not Shelob might be lying to him about returning Celebrimbor. *He wanted his friend back.*

And Shelob emphasized this. "He must mean something to you," she said.

Celebrimbor expressed disdain, saying Talion should have forgotten about him and defeated Sauron *for both their sake.* But he wanted his friend back and he would have died to see him free (without the ring, and without a wraith, Talion would die due to the ritual at the Black Gate in the first game.)

Talion risked *so much* in that moment. Shelob could have been lying and stolen the ring and not have released Celebrimbor. And even if she did, she may not have ever given the ring back. She only gave it back to Talion and Celebrimbor when she realized she could not change fate and beat Sauron alone.

"That ring belongs to *us,*" they say in the second game, and in the first game Celebrimbor says to Talion "I thought you wanted revenge" after it was revealed to Talion that the ritual is not what summoned the wraith, and that the wrath could leave him at any time. So evidently, there is a brotherhood between them. They do care about each other.

That's why it hurt me so much when Celebrimbor left Talion. They went through so much together. Talion showed how much he cares about his friend at the start of the game. And he just gets left behind.

How would *you* feel if you risked your life for someone only for them to betray you?

Not even Eltariel is innocent. She had a hand in Talion's almost-death. She accepted the ring, even though she looked apprehensive. She accepted Celebrimbor, without considering how much he meant to Talion. He wasn't just a source of life for Talion, he was his *friend.* If life was all Talion was looking for, *he never would have traded that ring for Celebrimbor.* In Talion's own words in the first game: "I don't belong here." He doesn't want to be alive. He wants to be dead with his family, after he takes his vengeance. He doesn't care about life, he cares only about his revenge...and he wants to take it with Celebrimbor, who was also hurt by Sauron.

The turn that the story took really made me sad. I get that Celebrimbor and Talion's goals were opposed (kill Sauron vs. Dominate Sauron) and that together they wouldn't succeed unless they aligned. Celebrimbor, having power over Talion's life, would be the decision-maker in the end as he could use someone as a vessel that agrees with his methods. It is this moment that showed us that Celebrimbor cares more about said methods than he does about a man who *literally WOULD HAVE DIED TWICE FOR HIS SAKE.*

People who say the writing in this game is bad just don't look deep enough into it imo.

Although it must be said: Talion looks really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cool as a Nazgul. Reminds me of the Power of Shadow skin in the first game, which was awesome.

Might want to put a spoiler tag to avoid the incoming buthurt fanboys that are gonna claim you ruined the game for them.

The title is "Act 3 made me sad", if they clicked on it they'd be a complete dumbass to complain about spoilers afterwards.

On topic, I agree. Talion cared about Celebrimbor enough to give up the ring for his safety, but Celebrimbor never saw him as anything more than a tool

Maybe celebrimbor just got tired of sharing the toilet with Talion...

I agree too, it's just a shame it doesn't fit with a lot of the armors in the game

If you use anything but the hooded cloak and the edgy armor, then you're dumb

I thought the same thing. i'm not finished with shadow war yet so i don't know if story is going to progress further but i onlly hope the end of the story addresses this.

I really miss hearing "suffer me now" that is the greatest loss about act 3. Shadowy evil ghost elf > dark talion

Just do Ringwraith cloak and bright armor, then stick with it. that is what i am doing

I don't know about you. I was getting tired of talion's righteous ass. He didn't want to dominate Sauron either, sauron can't be destroyed, he is Maiar, next best option is to dominate him. it would help us with banishing Sauron to the Void like the dark lord before him, Morgath.
But Talion is like can't dominate this, can't shame that.

Also.. He let Isildur go instead of using him. He could have been really valuable to us. Then 20 mins later we see Talion summoning bunch of dead gondorians, like hello? What about you being a good boy and all?

Why arent we mad Talion as well for summoning the dead for power etc? is it okay?.. because; his family was killed by Sauron and because celebrimbo tossed him aside for getting in his way. so now he's all boo hoo I can be mean too?

And lets talk about Celebrimbo, he is elf and a wraith. They are basiclly almost immortal. 100 years could seem like a whole life to a human(Talion) , but for Celebrimbo it's probably feel like a month or two. I mean Celebrimbo is like few thousand years old. Then Sauron and Celebrimbo, Sauron lied to him, betrayed him, killed his whole family, Took down his whole kingdom, humiliated him. If I was in celebrimbo’s shoes I’d want Sauron brought to his knees too.

I know most would disagree, but I feel like Celebrimbo leaving Talion is just justified. Talion and his moral are not cut out for winning a war.

Talion is a boring self righteous loser who ends up just another puppet anyway. At least Celebrimo had balls. I can't think of a more boring video game lead. Plus I'm so tired of Troy Baker's voice.

Eltariel going on and on about how EVIL the ring is and what a BAD IDEA it is to use them in every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dialogue she has, and then immediately taking the ring when it's offered to her, is what really ♥♥♥♥ me up the wall about this ending. Like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hell, I was hoping she'd be a decent support character for Talion and that they'd be joining forces to stomp on Sauron and Celebrimbor together. Nope.

The campaign's writing is so poorly written it's beyond the point of humorous and just plain dreary. Thank god the Orcs got such excellent personalities, else the game might have been a total disappointment. The Orcs having great writing serves to highlight just how bad everyone else got it, though.

I guess this shows the DIFFERENCES of Elves and Men...
Men are impulsive and emotional
Elves are methodical and more rational.

@Zirael you were not very successful in reading between the lines of the plot.

Shelob kept asking him what he was willing to sacrifice.

When he lost all of his friends, and nearly lost his life again, he sacrificed his morals in order to keep on fighting. That's why he turned into a ringwraith and began summoning the dead.

The whole THEME of that entire scene is that he had to change who he is to keep on fighting for his beliefs. It's not a "why would you do that if it goes against your morals" thing, it's a "you did this FOR your morals" thing. You misinterpret it as hypocrisy when it is not.

Also, no one said Celebrimbor leaving Talion isn't justified. We understand his reasons but I still was sad to see him leave him behind. They weren't going to get any farther together in their quest if they didn't agree on the ultimate result.
