How do you end an vendetta successfully?
I did a vendetta mission, kill THISNAME orc. I went in, had to kill a bunch of regular orcs with yellow boxes over their heads, and eventually ran into the THISSNAME orc. I killed him (got the kill screen where it shows the name with a red X through it) then nothing happened, I was in the same zone. It was definitely the correct name I killed. I ran around for a bit, and figured maybe it just leaves you there in case you want to do more? So I chose "end mission", and of course it then said Failed.

Do you have to ...do something else? Kill _all_ the warchiefs not just the listed named one? Or what do you have to do? It's annoying that I killed the right one and did not get the reward, it took quite some time before he popped.

You sure you killed the right orc? You can run in to several during a vendetta mission.

I did kill the right orc. He was the only non-black orc on the Army screen and the name was the same. I did run into two other captains, but they had greatly different names. I compared the stated name and level on this one. Maybe it was a bug :/ I'll try another sometime and see how it goes.

Sounds like your vendetta target had some decoys. They're basically grunts, but they're treated like captains as far as appearences go. The real one should be significantly stronger than the others.

He was strong, had a hard time with him. I haven't seen a decoy, so not sure what they look like, but this one had all the indications of a captain (appeared on the army screen, had the orange flag with a level in it over his head, did the "killed" screen with the red X through the name when killed, came in leading about 8 regular orcs, etc). I'll give it a try again sometime and hopefully that will go better.

Stukov, I'm not sure what triggers a vendetta for you. It seems there must be either a level or a mission progress point before a person is eligable for vendettas against their captains?

Normally you just kill the target and that ends the instance. The only ways to fail are to die or your target escapes. Check the army screen, see if he shows as alive or dead. If he's alive you can track him from there. If he's dead, then sounds like you found a rare glitch and you should just exit the mission.

Ok, I'll try again. Maybe I screwed up somehow, like the names were one level off. I thought I had the right one though. He was the only one 'revealed' on the army screen from the get-go and the name/level seemed to match.

If you have an active vendetta it gives the captain an icon that looks like a red diamond with an X in it. It's not an actual mission, but while it's active you can track them to an investigation point which will cause the area to load a mini-event, like a grog party for example. When you kill them the cause of death will be Revenge. You should get a better than average item drop, but that's it.
