Overall it's best to just keep only 2 Bodyguards assigned to a Warchief, anymore than 2 and they'll have a HIGH chance of all betraying you.
But in Singleplayer Sieges and from what I've seen, the Enemy Warchiefs can often bring any old Captain who isn't even a Bodyguard to any Warchief into the fight - presumably they "hired" them to stop your assault in promise of rank/promotion.
I have tested that number before by assigning multiple body guards beyond 2 to a single warchief and then assaulting my own fort. Only 2 ever showed up.
As for the rest, interesting.
