Best counter for Shield Captains and Vault Breaker?
I encountered one captain that had the stats mentioned above plus some other ones that I can’t fully recall which I believe also made using arrows and stealth mildly ineffective. It took a really long time to take down that it made the whole encounter more frustrating than it was fun.

Any recommendations for future potential encounters?

I thought the last game had better counters for shield bearers than this game. I’m struggling in combat than I did in the previous game.

If yoiu have lots of focus you can use waters of Lorien or whatever it's called. The teleport variation on the vault, and it will help, but unless you can keep generating focus you'll likely end up out of focus before the fights over. I havent really found a solid way to counter them yet outside of this and exploiting a daze. The only way I've been able to keep my focus high enough to keep doing the teleport, was to have enemies around with the captain to keep killing them and using my gear that gives me focus on kill. And even then it's risky and often waste focus getting to grunts and random orcs to regain focus.

Shield and vault breaker are a tough one for me as well, still trying to figure out how to dodge towards without having to vault but it seems that it's either vault, or roll away. I havent tried to parry their attacks either as they tend to spam the jab a lot so I'm not trying to mistime and get pummeled and die.

Executions, branding other Orcs, bodyguards, using the environment, using animals.

Just hit them until their shield breaks. You'll still build up your hit counter even if you hit their shield - just be ready to dodge.

Elven light with any of the upgrades or using items that help with this stuff should do the trick. Defenders make really good bodyguards and warchiefs if they have the right immunities.

Glaive works fairly well, just watch for that damn red-arrow Jab!!!

Also don't overlook your ability to 'dash' through your targets. The same ability that lets you tumble over a shield bearer's shield (and freeze them, which is in the same tree), you can change your vault into a dash that uses focus to speed through your opponent to get behind them quick.

I made it to level 55 with out relizing dash existed. getting by using pinn, exposive arrow, and summoning a bodygaurd to distract the shield user. Once they used adapt to the vault it was difficaly but if you doge to the right while holding forward at the same time, you can do it twice and end up behind them aswell. lot harder then dash but possible. Some times if you doge back wards they will charge you and you can doge in then attack from behind aswell. The hammer is also pretty cool because if there arrow proof and you hit the hammer right next to them they still get explosive dammage though minnimal.
The Fastest way to deal with him is 2 use instant kill command when he shows up you just have to press Alt + F4 (Both at the same time) and he will die no other imput required.

Definitely should check out that other variation of the vault skill. I kept that skill with the freeze option. Thanks!
