We'll see how notable Middle-earth geeks respond to this. In my opinion this requires some form of backlash. The gameplay might be great, but at this point that's not relevant. End does not justify the means.
(I do think Ungoliant could handle the ring. She was more powerful than Melkor, though OFC a lot less influential and cunning which is why she ultimately lost that confrontation. But this isn't Ungoliant. Not only have they been leading up to it being Shelob since the previous game, they've identified her as Shelob in the description of the video.)
...Then again, I don't know many who try to justify that atrocity...
