That's why you play with friends.

Since when has multiplayer in a single player ever been good. Assassins creed, tomb raider, uncharted, the last of us, all these single player games have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tacked on multiplayers which no one cares about or players and is a waste of the developers time when they could just spend that time improving parts of the game that people actually play.

Splinter Cell's multiplayer (added in the second game) was quite popular. Mass Effect 3's multiplayer did well. Halo, has always had strong single and multiplayer modes. StarCraft, most any 4x game, Company of Heroes, the Souls series, GTAV's multiplayer is apparently going great guns, the Total War series has had some good multiplayer entries, Dawn of War was solid in multiplayer, Heroes of Might and Magic also had some pretty good multiplayer in a couple of its games.
I imagine I could come up with a couple more if I sat and thought on it a while.

I would love multiplayer. There is no reason NOT to have it in a lotr game that are open world especially. Multiplayer is optional to everyone so there is no reason for all of this ''screw multiplayer'' talk. You dont have to use it!

I for one would love a coop buddy and some modes added like tower defense, village raids and actual beast raids. This game has the potential for that (so did the last one). There is absolutely no reason NOT to have it when talking about this game. People think some games are better without multiplayer. No, they are not. Why? BECAUSE MULTIPLAYER IS OPTIONAL.

Why would you argue against something that you will never use anyway? Obviously, other people do want it and it wouldnt hurt the single player game at all.

really? lack of features is good because why? It's something that you dont even have to look at if you dont want to, but the people that do, get a lot of fun out of it.

It would be nice if there were coop to play with a buddy. Would bring in my $ for them.

This is the description of the game.

"conquer Fortresses in massive battles" and "dominate Mordor with your personal orc army."

How do you NOT include a multiplayer for that?

You would think they would include multiplayer for the simple fact that a lot of people dont play single player games until they go on sale. The same cannot be said for games with multiplayer since you want to be in the game when there are the most people (during the first year of release)

Personally, I feel when a game has a good singleplayer narrative that can keep my attention for many hours, I don't feel the need for a multiplayer. Especially if said multiplayer would have taken away time from working on the singleplayer narrative and ends up feeling tacked on. However, if there's a different team working simultaneously on the multiplayer, and it's actually good (for instance looking at this game I could see a 2-4 player co-op system working pretty well), I don't mind it at all, since it doesn't take anything away from the singleplayer experience.

Not that I have 3 friends to play multiplayer with, though.

Or 2,

Or 1 even.

Let me get my coat..

Actually, some games you've just gotta play by yourself. I'd rather play Dead Space 3 by myself than have my friend do the Corpse Olympics because he's an idiot.
Forcing a MP mode into a game is just a bad idea, plain and simple.

There are so many things they could do with it. Not having it all is pretty closed minded. If you want to play a game by yourself, the option is always there since Multiplayer is a feature and not the entire game.
