Content exclusive to Indiegogo backers?

I noticed this game was partially funded using Indiegogo, and among the rewards, the developers listed an "exclusive short game", and "a secret area in the game".

Will this content be available in the future for Steam buyers? Was the idea for exclusive content by any chance dropped, once Team 17 became the publisher?

The secret area in the game was dropped once Team17 became the publisher. The exclusive short game "In my Life' will only be available for the backers.

Just curious: was that short game related to the main game?
Nevertheless, I really hope you consider making it available for sale in the future (even if it's a year in the future or so). Unfortunately, it's very easy to miss out on crowdfunding campaigns (there are so many at any given time, in several websites, and most receive minimal coverage, so many go unnoticed), and it's always disappointing when you miss out on one, and find yourself unable to get certain in-game content, or in this case a full extra short game.

Ah Motoki :( I'm sorry, having different retail versions was too complicated. However, I might release that area in the preT17 state of the game some day for the backers ^_^

Why can't it also come out as a paid DLC?

FunktionJCB: The short game is not connected to Rae and Beyond Eyes, it's a little thing I've been playing around with for a while ^_^. We'll see where it goes.

As for dlc, at this point nothing is planned but who knows what the future holds? Although in all honesty, after working on this game for 4,5 years I am very excited to start working on something new and different for a little while!

I mean if the game is already done, why not release it as a thank you for early buyers.

The developer confirmed above that there's no backer exclusive content.
The idea was dropped when the game found a publisher.

It's a completely different game she's working on as a side project and nothing to do with this game. And we (backers) don't even have it yet and I'm not even sure when that's going to happen. It may be a while.

Really, I feel like you guys are grasping at straws and looking for things to complain about. She already cut out what was supposed to be our exclusive content for backers for this game (the secret area). I don't see all the fuss over a completely separate smaller in scope mini game that's nothing to do with this one and not even out yet with no set release date being given to backers.

Honestly though as a backer if it will quell all the negativity this as yet to be released unrelated mini game is generating I'm fine with her just releasing it to everyone. It's drawing too much attention away from THIS game, which is clearly a labor of love, and that never was the intention.

I was about to buy this game as well. I am going to hold off for now. While I do believe backers deserve something for just giving away money to people, on faith that they will do something great... Im not a fan of feeling like a lesser customer, considering that I only found out the game existed recently.

I'd been following the game for over a year and yet didn't know it was crowdfunded. While it's a shame I now know there's small (unrelated content-wise) game from this developer I won't be able to get, it hasn't detracted from my enjoyment of Beyond Eyes. I'm glad I bought this one.
