I havent had anyone die yet, so I have never encountered this.
The best I can offer you are the following options
1) restart a new game, but hold on to your current savegame so the devs can look at it (easiest and fastest option)
2) send me your savegame. I will copy all your setup to a new game. You will have everyone back in shelter with all their current stats, and you have everything you had and had built in the same location but you will be back at Day 1 (my offer to temporary resolve your problem so that you can continue your game)
3) wait for the devs to fix your savegame (who knows how long they will take)
In all cases, hang on to your savegame and do not overwrite or delete it.
Thanks for the offer! To be honest the main reason this is annoying is because the game has gotten way too easy. I heard that the Extended Family quest increases the difficulty each time you move, so that's what I was looking forward to. I currently have just about everything fully upgraded, with more supplies than I could ever use. This is my first run in a while, so I just started on normal difficulty. Rather than restart on day 1 with a huge advantage, I think I'll just restart on a higher difficulty and go from there.
Hopefully the devs will reply so I can send them my savegame to prevent this from happening to anyone else. Thanks again for the help though!
