Turning negative traits into positive traits.
Has anyone figured them all out? I think for lazy you make them go on a scavenge runs and it becomes proactive iirc. For cowardly, just do alot of combat. I haven't been able to get rid of big eater or unhygienic yet, although I think for the former I have to feed them only when they're starving and the latter... maybe clean up/shower more then necessary?

Yep, I got rid of unhygienic when I just used the shower a lot :)

Big Eater = Food rations relieve less hunger.
Can change into small eater by starving yourself and it should pop the moment you get the notification your malnourished

Cowardice = Will occasionally be overcome by fear during fights.
Can change into courageous by winning a fight. the person with the trait needs to land the killing blow

Light Sleeper = Tiredness stat decreases slower when sleeping
can change to Deep Sleeper when you dont sleep and get the notification about needing sleep

Lazy = Moves slower in the shelter and while exploring.
can change to Proactive by exploring

Hands-off = Craft and fix slower.
Can change into Hands-on by crafting and fixing shelter structures.

Pessimistic = Gains stress faster.
Can change into optimistic upon returning from an expedition with loot.

Wasteful = Lower chance of recovering items when deconstructing objects.
can change into rescourcefull by deconstructing objects

Unhygenic = Dirtiness increases at a faster rate.
Can change into hygienic after getting an alimentary infection.

Ah ok, and i tried to change light sleeper but no matter how long i kept the survivor at full sleep meter, it never gave them deep sleeper.
yeah with the big eater and unhygenic you kinda just have to starve them and deprive them of shower until they change.

zeabz, some of your information is false. i cant get a big eater to become a small one, nor a light sleeper to become deep, nor a pesimist to become an optimist with the current set up. havent tried wasteful yet. ill get back to you on that.

I can CONFIRM if you starve a big eater and keep their health up with first aids they become small eaters (ive just done it) and turning a light sleeper into a deep sleeper, just dont let them sleep for a long time (took about about 5-7 days or more of no sleep) . Late reply I know but ive only just started playing, great fun and very addictive ;P

Ok, so it just takes more time and meds with eaters, but what about the rest?
Raphaela Aug 22, 2016 @ 9:18pm
Well with the big eater just keep all the rest of the stats up exept eating, when they are low on hp use first aids, it does take a while. As for light sleeper as I mentioned above just don't let the person sleep you won't need first aid for them but it takes a very long time, infact for all the negitive stats ive come across possibly the longest to fix. The rest of the minus stats are mentioned at the top of post by Zeabz. =D

I'm having a terrible time getting this to switch over. Three of my family members have it and it's driving me nuts. I've had each of them deconstruct a variety of things from all tiers of the workbench and still no progress! Any advice?

Yeah, Pessimistic is a tough nut to crack :(

I tend to restart the play if anyone(or even 2!) got Pessimistic because i would benefit from 2 positive traits but still dunno how to convert pessimistic effectively.

iirc just keep going on expeditions and find loot. I'm not sure if the number of loot you get or the number of locations visited will affect.

Well, i didn't manage to convert pessimistic Max Rokatansky on normal after ~100 days where he was in almost every expedition and brought all kind of treasures filled up to brim with 2 heavy ruksacks and a saddled horse. On one trip it was 50+ locations i think. I dunno what might trigger him then. Might be the name, lol, he's roleplaying!
Or this trait conversion might be bugged, i haven't seen a single report of successful conversion in the forums. Did you manage to do it?

It's not an issue on normal difficulty, but now i'm starting on hardcore and want to convert all negative traits in reasonable time.

Also you're a local expert, what starting traits do you recommend? I think about making a family with: Courageous Troubled, Proactive Violent, Hands-on Bully and Brain box Resourceful
