Tips for finding more lootable locations?
Had a great idea in the beginning that a little dirt never hurt anybody and decided against building any sort of shower. Turns out that's a problem and I ran out of valves. My guys are scouring all directions of the wasteland for more scavenging locations but we just keep wasting our water to no avail. Any tips guys?

What I tend to do is loot the first couple of places that show up within my starting radius, first.

After that, I'll wait until it's raining (so that I can spend water without fear of dehydration), then set one of my people to go to a waypoint just outside my border, then put the next waypoint(s) along the border so that I circle around through the edge of the fog of war.

If I have two people to send, I'll do that (in case I find lots of stuff)
If I have three or four people to send, I'll split them into two groups, each doing half-circles around my base.

Once that's done, the visible radius around my base has increased, and the next time it rains I can send people out on journeys to increase that radius even further.

Hint: Don't be afraid to use up all of the water when starting an expedition (if its raining), because your shelter's water will be replenishing while you're away.
Also, you'll consume the equipped gas mask item per trip no matter how far you travel, so after your initial excursions to the first couple of immediately visible places, it's worth making longer trips to get the most out of each mask.

Sweet. I'll give it a shot. Can't wait to play more of this game. Feel like there's a lot of depth and replay value in doing things slightly different each time.

Ace strategy. One of my favourite aspects of this game is when you start a fresh family. I tend to have my own routine now, but I'm always adapting and getting slightly better with each playthrough.

You can also craft a set of binoculars that will increase the sight distance of your exploration party, making it easier to uncover locations on the map :)
are those binoculars special items? cant find them in the crafting section

we've just realised we didn't actually place them in the crafting bench so they're not usable right now. The next update will fix this. Sorry!

Sorry about that! Hard to keep track of all the craftables sometimes :P

great idea, and yea i agree going out on raining days is the best days! i also get everyone to drink and pee lots during rain as well even if there bar is only halfway oooo and shower everything when it rains~

That's definitely the best way to do it. I also craft a ton of water butts early on so that I've always got a well stocked supply of water.

I suggest the possibility of taking the dog in expeditions. His nose and teeth could be very helpful.

Or the cat, his nose and teeth wouldn't be very helpful, but it still should be allowed. :P
