Loot reset

I will visit a location 20+ days after the previous time and some locations always have new loot while other never do. It's not a problem for things like houses (since there are a lot of houses) but it is a problem when its the only scrapyard on my map. I only need 2 more van parts. It's also a problem when most of the buildings in general don't spawn new loot.

I have the same problem. I've been searching then after 20 days and 7/10 places have the same loot as before. Loot does respawn and i think its a random amount of days. I migh be wrong but i think loot becomes rarer the longer you stay alive? I'm on 114 days and loot is VERY rare for me now :L

How ofted did you loot the scrapyard?
EDIT: Does the inventory even show when you try and loot?

How ofted did you loot the scrapyard?
EDIT: Does the inventory even show when you try and loot?

I would wait 20 days or sometimes 40 to loot the scrapyard and any other place. If you hover over it on the map it shows the last time you looted the place.

I'm at around 175 days, loot isn't too hard to come by. Just a lot harder than in th begining. I've heard that you have to loot everything from a building to force a new loot spawn but I'm not sure if that works or not, I haven't been able to try it out.

It does work for some places but not others, idk. But when you loot does the inventory show up or does it not?

The inventory does show up. It's just the same crappy loot, it doesn't reset like in other places. I could still take the crappy stuff, but i have no need for it.

take it and store it in a diff place or dont transfer it to your storage

my strategy has been to build enormous water reserves and send a level 20 with a gas mask and axe and a new recruit with just a knife to basically scavenge from people with the longest trip possible. This doesn't work with scrapyards obviously, but most other items randomly show up in traders and people's inventories.

I guess the problem is, I don't know if totally empty buildings mean there is less chance of encountering people at that site. So I don't know if it's worth it to empty a building to let it reset inventory, or to keep it occupied with useless junk, so that I can have a better chance of meeting people and raiding them.

I'm out at day 157 and have not as yet got all the parts for the van. I have only found one scrapyard, but I have found several van parts at a location other than the scrapyard.

I just broke 200 days and still no van. I find Tyre's at other places but nothing else. Loot still doesn't respawn noticably yet, i'm basically stuck killing people I find with the few bullets I have left. I don't want any of my people dying.

I was on day 300 and NOT ONE location in the whole world had anything I needed for loot - even for locations I didn't visit for 80 days or something. In most locations there was still the stuff I left in the first times. Had to live on trading with strangers till it got to frustrating.

I'm having this problem on xbox one, i'm 300 days in and just need the Fan belt and spark plug to finish the RV, i've searched the only scrapyard my map has and the loot hasn't changed since day 248.
Update #1 and #2 just got released on Xbox One so maybe something will change....
