^^^ I was wondering exactly all of those things too.
The highest perception is used while in party mode from my experience.
If a proactive character travels with someone else who doesn't have the proactive or lazy trait then both travel at the faster speed.
If a proactive character travels with someone else who has the lazy trait then they travel at the normal speed.
If a lazy character travels on their own they will move at the slower speed.
If a lazy character travels with someone else who has the lazy trait then they travel at the slower speed.
If a lazy character travels with someone else who has the proactive trait they will travel at the normal speed.
----------------------------------------------------
Pro + ------- = Fast
Pro + Pro = Fast
Pro + Other = Fast
Pro + Lazy = Normal
Lazy + -------- = Slow
Lazy + Lazy = Slow
Lazy + Other = Slow

I wonder which info is true and is it up-to-date?
Most games follow a "party travels at the slowest speed" but that would not balance well here where the party size is two.
You could ask telgalad if he's tested it and gets different results, if it's untested the guide might be wrong.
And since i got courageous+lazy and proactive+coward as my scavenge party they'll both end up being couragous+proactive anyway :D
Yeah the fact it doesn't change water usage per say makes it a bit less useful. It's only a slight increase in time saving, unless you got a second scavenger who is Lazy. Still, faster scavenging, that's something that's hard to improve on :)
2 other guys can stay in shelter alone just fine, well except maybe for raids. But in that case - 2 hiding places would be easier to build than 4.
If the game had some time pressure - then it would be more useful. Should be some "greedy drinker vs camel" trait instead.
