Proactive trait/attribute question
Does it affect the whole party, or just the one character when exploring?
Does the character with the trait need to be leading the party for it to effect?
Semi-related, how does party perception work when searching for loot?
Is it the leader's perception, the average perception, or the highest perception?

The proactive trait makes you travel faster while exploring. It affects the whole party at this point in time. I dont know whether it was a percentage increase when in party mode though.

The highest perception is used while in party mode from my experience.

If a proactive character travels on their own they will travel at the faster speed.
If a proactive character travels with someone else who doesn't have the proactive or lazy trait then both travel at the faster speed.
If a proactive character travels with someone else who has the lazy trait then they travel at the normal speed.

If a lazy character travels on their own they will move at the slower speed.
If a lazy character travels with someone else who has the lazy trait then they travel at the slower speed.
If a lazy character travels with someone else who has the proactive trait they will travel at the normal speed.

----------------------------------------------------
Pro + ------- = Fast
Pro + Pro = Fast
Pro + Other = Fast
Pro + Lazy = Normal
Lazy + -------- = Slow
Lazy + Lazy = Slow
Lazy + Other = Slow

In regards to perception. The highest perception in the party is used :)

One old guide says:
The first 2 characters, the adults, will be your primary scavengers. Both of these should have the proactive trait in order to quickly get items. Please note, the party moves at the speed of the slowest person. So if one person is proactive and the other is not, it’s a wasted trait. Make both adults proactive or neither.

I wonder which info is true and is it up-to-date?

Probably what the dev said is what sticks.
Most games follow a "party travels at the slowest speed" but that would not balance well here where the party size is two.

You could ask telgalad if he's tested it and gets different results, if it's untested the guide might be wrong.

Yeah, of course i assume dev's answer should be more correct.
And since i got courageous+lazy and proactive+coward as my scavenge party they'll both end up being couragous+proactive anyway :D

Ryuu, you removed your last comment? So, which way around is it?

I was confused :) i thought proactive reduces water usage, not time to travel. So i presume dev is right because it's not as easy to check as water and also it doesn't matter as much as water. I'll have 1 proactive person in my party just in case.

Nice, thanks for the link. Given how bad those results show Slow+anything except Proactive is, you'll definitely want to train your Lazy+Proactive guys together.

Yeah the fact it doesn't change water usage per say makes it a bit less useful. It's only a slight increase in time saving, unless you got a second scavenger who is Lazy. Still, faster scavenging, that's something that's hard to improve on :)

But why would i need to explore faster much? There's no much advantage. And with horse - i want to keep horse out as long as possible to not requiring feed :D
2 other guys can stay in shelter alone just fine, well except maybe for raids. But in that case - 2 hiding places would be easier to build than 4.

If the game had some time pressure - then it would be more useful. Should be some "greedy drinker vs camel" trait instead.
