If i am incorrect on something or have left something out would someone please correct me.
So is Sheltered essentially This War of Mine only with a different wrapper?
My answer to that is no.
Even though both games do work on the same general ideas this is where the similarities end. They are very different games and judging by what ive seen and read they play different.
One question i would like to add: Is combat turn based or not? Im just a bit confused as to whether or not it is and would like that cleared up.
This War Of Mine is sooo good .
I would support that argument. So i shall.
Aside from that, i do believe this war of mine was highly over rated for its mechanical aspect (gameplay). Once you had down the two variations and had a decent idea of how to get trough the game you can conquer it and lose no one and nothing. Don't get me wrong, it's a great experience. It's just not the amazing game people hold up to to be. I am hoping Sheltered will have a stronger system of randomization and events which will prove untamable or at the very least take longer to get trough.
This is something we have planned in the "Danger" update from the roadmap. You'll have groups of people trying to break into the shelter, and will have to plan accordingly (Hiding places, placing traps to deter, upgrading the doors themselves for greater endurance against explosives and attacks)
It's random elements that bring more danger to your home and your family that are coming and will definitely improve the game, we feel.
Sure they are.
But it is always okay to compare different but similar things! It helps me make a decision about purchasing.
Thanks for everyone's opinions, by the way. It has been highly informative. =D
Overall I feel like this war of mine is superior to sheltered at telling a specific mostly non varying story. Almost like a partially interactive movie.
Sheltered on the other hand is superior at creating a new story, and giving you the freedom to do so.
I know, i read the roadmap. The question is if will you be able to pull it of. Game development is a fickle mistress. I've had plenty of kickstarter titles try very hard and unable to achieve it. It's just not as easy as it sounds. So when i say i am hopeful, i do mean "at the end of the road." With that said i hope the relationship with Team 17 bolsters the practicle side of things.
Keep on trucking.
