Oh precious rubber
Hey there, I cannot find a resonable amount of rubber. Being over 120 days in the game it seems impossible to collect the amount of rubber needed for the last upgrade of the workbench. I went out for at least 20 sorties with 15+ locations each and managed to collect a meagre 2 or 3 pieces of this very rare item. This may be VERY bad luck but I am pretty sure that I came up with plenty more in the early stages of the game. This cannot be right... Any ideas?

I'm sorry to hear your problems, but at the same time, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one experiencing this. In my game, rubber is next to impossible to find as the game progresses as well. Even with a recycling plant at the shelter, I still have a hard time finding the stuff, since none of the salvaged "junk" gives you rubber, and breaking down a gas mask only gives you back wool and plastic, which I have plenty of.

Thank you for your reply. The prolonged difficulties with the lack of rubber – even with the recycling plant as you explained – are something that really demotivates me. It just seems stupid to me: the absence of rain can lead to bad situations and even death. Fine. Marauding hordes can beat you out of the world. That's bad but also fine with me. But RUBBER?! Really?! Maybe the problem does not affect all games; just the rarer rubberles seeds. Otherwise this would be a bigger issue, I guess. Too bad! I hoped for a hint whrer to find that big rubber stash. ;)

... What? Go to houses and schools and office buildings. There's plenty of rubber. Just make those priority every time and you'll find enough, and although it's an assumption, use every point possible when scouting your path on the map. Have you not been paying attention to which locations -tend to- have items more? I used to have this problem before I made little lists of the probability of items popping up at certain types of locations. So from experience, you just need to look in JUST those places. Don't bother with any other spots, and you'll find enough if you spend the same amount of trips. Masks are also usually in houses so just don't use them for anything other than the upgrade you want. I won't say it's not a rare item. It definitely is. But through trading and scavenging, I have been able to get what I need and more. Just make sure that when your people go out, take something valuable to trade. A lot of the time the people that pop up who want to trade before you even get to a location will have a lot of good stuff on them, and it's a shame to not have anything to get the rubber when you see it. Good luck

I tried all those places and I always try to trade with people I meet. Not once did any of them had rubber on them (at least not since I focused on this ressource). The bookkeeping of places with rubber is an interesting idea. I did not think of that. As mentioned before it could be a part of the seed used for my game which differs from yours. And even if the game is not made that way: propability is a ♥♥♥♥♥. I could at least start another family and check a few things considering it is my second. The first does not even count because everybody was dead after a few days. Appreciate your input. Cheers.
Having same trouble with finding rubber and yes I do go to schools to find them, but the amount you find is little that right now I cant upgrade or make more bullet proof vest because I don't have enough rubber, but I have other resourses in the hundreds.
I don't get why we can't recycle car partes, those become usless once you you have your van fully repaired, we should be able to recycle tires and it should give 10 rubber/tire or someting.

there's a new location in the wasteland. The recycling centre. You've got a much higher chance of finding it here ;)

this, i thought it was only me. lol
As a suggestion to the developers, as soon as you're done finding everything for the RV, there will still be tires out in the wasteland to come across. Why not allow the tires to be recycled for a nice lump of rubber - say 5 pcs each? (or other car components at that, which are currently not recyclable)

Hi Sonny, great. The recycling plant? I'll check it out if I can afford to upgrade to tier 4. :D

Also... I've found that marauders and cannibals have more rubber than traders (who also came to my base carrying a TON of rubber).

Seriously- why can't we recylcle tires into rubber? I have six spares in my storage but cannot find rubber for the life of me. The best source is traders who come to your shelter.

Rubber and metal are essential and RARE

The difference is that once you build a recycler, you will drown in endless flow of metal (scrap, buckets, some weapons and lotsa other stuff) but you will still lack rubber.

And building a recycler is no big feat.

Ik, rubber needs to be more common

Nice to see that we can now salvage tires for rubber with this update, however it's only three and I think it should be a minimum of 20 considering how large/heavy tires are on top of the fact that traders come around with 6-8 on them all the time.
