How is it easy?
Maybe everyone just looks up guides or cheats or something but I am having a hard time with my shelter. I see all these threads saying the game is too easy but my last 4 families have all died or I just quit knowing they were going to. I tend to not look up guides and just play the game. Usually I die from lack of water, food, or my entire family just gets sick. The game is fun, I just think my family takes too long to do certain things. Like 1 hour to take a crap, and another hour to clean the crapper. Seems a little overkill. But Like I said I don't look up guides or cheat so I am having a hard time getting a good shelter started.

Edit
After a few families I finally got it down. Fun game, but yeah could use some more difficulty scaling.

The game is pretty easy, really. Early game, when water is a bit rarer of a resource, I stock up and send my team on long, long expeditions. Usually the water butts will overfill in that time, so I constantly broadcast for traders, and trade water as much as possible for parts, and medicines/ammo. You don't really need either of those to get by at all, but, when your thin on water and a trader shows up with goods you really want/need, you'll be able to trade off ammunition and medicine to get what you wanted.

That way you can clean up pretty much every single trader for the resources you want, and keep from having to be too risky with water, as thirty units can keep six folks alive for the maximum time between rainfalls.

Get the biggest bags you can and rush the recycler, and your laughing. I'm on day 70ish with my current save, got the Recycler, guns, ammo and drugs out the wazoo, water cap of 420. My water filter efficiency is maxed out, my generator has max efficiency, full pantry, great bulletproof vests and a deep melee armory. It'd be pretty hard for me to fail at this point. Just wandering the wastes looking for the Autopantry and Autobutt schematics and figuring out how to start the shelter transition quest.

So where are the recipes? I just finished getting my RV fixed up and I have just found out the wonders of the recycler. I found a hatch that I need a password to get into. And I am basically just doing quests now. When do blueprints start to show up on map? How does the game dictate when to lvl up the difficulty?

I believed I was safe. I had everything - dad had equipped metal detector, son had good bulletproof vest. Rifle, Axe, and a killer dog on our side. It was day 127... suddenly they found 3 guys. My team says something like "I will not allow you to threaten my family again!" (???) - I wonder if they had something to do with the guy who asked for food after threatening me and on my refusal damaged my water filter. Threw flashbang, which dazed them, but apparently "dazed" means being stunned when it's not your turn (WTF!) and they got the first turn. On the second turn I was dead D:

Could have been four days instead of seven. I know there are two types of status effects that requires passing time to cure. One of them was seven days, the other four. Infections could have been seven days, but personally I have never encountered Infections.

hm maybe, i had plenty of Antibiotics as i encountered infections the first time. But yea, would make sense that infections are way worse then food poisoning.
