There's no way to have separate branch on Google Play AFAIK, so it means you'll only get new content when it's no longer beta.
Also it's too difficult to have simultaneous beta-versions on different platforms together, that's why devs picked PC+Steam+Windows as test bed.
Mac and Linux would be tested closer to release, they have fewer users.
It's expensive to update games on consoles, i heard devs need to pay money EACH TIME to push an update in console store!
Now reread first line. But Android is mobile gaming masterrace, i like it too. Still it's more limited for devs, alas, than PC.
