I tried surrounded
There really isn't much a person can do. I am a veteran sheltered player, so I know all of the mechanics of the game.

I started by rearranging the shelter so everything I need is on the top two floors. I could scavenge the extra beds, toilets and showers, but they don't give me any needed components to craft things I need. (weapons and armor)

I could set traps for leather, but with no way to get nylon, I can't make armor.

I could use the small amount of nylon I have to make very innefective traps.

Maybe a trader will randomly show up and save the day, but I don't know if that will happen. The biggest thing this mode needs is being able to scavenge materials from the attackers. If an attacker comes in with a crowbar weapon and I kill the attacker, then I should get the crowbar.... right? Where does the crowbar go? It just disappears. That sucks!!!!!!

BTW, I killed the first attacker. I killed the second wave with two attackers. On the third wave with three attackers, I died. I don't see any way I could have beat it.

I learned that Dad shown up on day 10, so I went all in on spike traps. No need to conserve.

If you are a veteran, you should know who to prioritize to kill in a combat.

If you picked the Crowbar guy, you need to learn Sheltered from the start.

I was able to reach day 50 and win.

The first 10 days are challenging until you learn to go all in on traps. The first time I played I thought I needed to save tripwires for more challenging waves. I also got unlucky with a double infection and no antibiotics.

After day 10, when Dad returned with a pile of nylon, I was able to make two top tier vests, pipe bombs and had hatchets, rebar, sledgehammer.

My observations.
-The battles never ramp up as much as I thought they might. Even on day 30+ you can get a 1 person attack. Even the 4 person attacks where they had guns were not an issue because both of my people were maxxed strength and dexterity and I had a half dozen traps set. The final battle McRoy died from his head on a spike before he reached me. After that his friends just left.

- The first 10 days I saw lots of deer and rabbits. I snared them to get the leather I needed for vests. After day 10 I never saw another animal. Not sure if that is intended or a bug.

- On the day 20 Dad scavenging, I got a random encounter after the first town that lead to a bonus cabin scavenge. However, after the cabin it make me head back, so I missed out of the second town. Not much of a bonus there!

- Doors are completely pointless. I had both fully upgraded and 1 person will break through. They arent really a functional defense. I would only repair them to 1 percent to make the alarm stop after that. It would be nice to be able to set traps outside of the doors, or have the doors be more of a deterent to attacks. Why even have 2 door at all?

- I would like to see more variety of traps in a simulation that is focused on defense. I never had to worry about food or water or gas and I never had upgrade any of the machines. I spent 99% of the time on the punching bags waiting for the next attack. If I had to spend more time laying out defenses and traps it would be a lot more interesting.

- 99% of the stuff Dad scavenges never gets used. After day 10 when he brings weapons.
Nylon for trip wire and cordite for bombs are usefull. Everything else is a waste.

- On one of the attacks I equipped a pistol and bullets just for variety. It would not let me shoot. The only option was melee.

- I really liked the characters and the random encounters. The new map graphics are great. I really hope they get in to survival.

- On one encounter I met a guy whose portrait has much higher resulution graphics. Is this a sign of things to come?

- After a combat, I selected two bodies for incineration. Instead of retrieving the second body, Mom left the shelter and climbed up into the sky. She then came back down. Wierd!

- The new dialogue cutscenes are great! I am really looking forward to seeing what you guys do next.

- Way too much rain. I never didn't have maxxed water. It would be neat if the bottom levels started to flood.

- More time with Dad and control over his adventures would be really nice.

- In the full realease, I would really like to see a difficulty levels. Starting with that much food water and resources is too much.

The battles are four waves of 1/2/3/3+1gun enemies each. The last gunner always get to go first if you engage him in combat.

Yeah I noticed this too

I was wondering about this too. Glad that someone else pointed this out.

Agreed. However, I focused only on combat than traps. Certainly would have made for an easier time with traps, but I never trusted RNG.

I can assure you that firearms are working. I have fired all the firearms in Surrounded to ensure it wasn't bugged.

This is an ongoing bug since Danger update, thanks for reminding me to report this. You can reproduce this bug by choosing to Incinerate the same corpse twice. Meaning if A was given the order to Incinerate Raider B's corpse twice, the second order will send A climbing out of the shelter and walk into the sky on the left side of the screen. Same goes if Survivor A and Survivor C were given the same Incinerate order and one of them did it first, the other will walk into the sky.

The food and gas were mainly for score. In other words, people who use automation will score lesser. In my opinion they should also include starting furniture in the shelter in scores to discourage salvaging right off the bat.

It become like tower-def game : fun at first half hour , soon feel boring.
Maybe something missing in there?

I really hope this isn't "it". Maybe there might be more stuff once they finally push this out of beta.

'sides, there are some other bugs I rather they fix before it comes out though.

Yes , I agree , I hope they can add more thing in there , I run to 32 days and stop play because boring. I feel it just take some stuff out the game system and try to sell it to you.

Even it free , I will not spend too much time on this ,Maybe I will play 2-3 round and totally forgot this , for a game have limit way to playing , people will not spend many time stop on there.

Unless they add something REALLY new - we didn't see it before , and let we not feel boring after 20 days.

The hard part was basically the days before Father returns on Day 10 lol
Dextor Apr 3, 2018 @ 1:33am
1st run I died and learned that this is NOT the normal sheltered type of run. This is more like a base building race like in StarCraft. As such I have a build order and have beaten the game three times in a row. Now I am focusing on High scores. All these runs are on my channel YouTube.com/DextorPlaysGames.

Here is the build order I use:
Build Order:
1) Dismantle 1x Shower, 1x Toilet, 1x Stove
2) Build 1x Mop and Bucket
3) Build 3x Spike traps, 3x Trip Wires (Keep a stock of Trip wires)
4) Build 1x Adv Snare Trap (Eat meat over rations for score)
5) Dismantle 1xBookcase, 1x Toy Box (*Int, Per are pointless* Chr is not of enough value)
6) Aquire Leather(20) & Nylon(16) and build 2x Greater Bulletproof Vests
7) Aquire Hinges(2) & Motors (2) and build 1x Med Freezer
**** Dad Returns on Day 10 ****
8) Build 2x Shotgun Traps
9) Build Recycling Plant
10) Build Solar Panel
11) Upgrade doors to lvl2
12) 2x Water Condensors
13) Build Rifle Sentry Traps

Other tips: Let the Water filter Burn! No rain means the filter is useless.
Let the generator burn, Use Solar panel and incinerator for power. Saves Petrol for score.
Light bulbs are MASSIVELY valuable. Takes 2 to make a sentry trap. Best I have achieved is two sentries.
Focus on collecting only what you need for the build order.

It's been fun reading how you've been adapting your playstyles.

Some interesting tips and feedback too.

Keep on surviving, survivors!

I didnt even get rain for one day, by day 35 i was out of water and had to build water condensers, 5 of them!

Have you read patch? There's no rain in Surrounded.
