Yeah I recall the Bonus mission destroying the ISD Kotiate making reference to the upgrade. I’m just curious that they didn’t maintain this “upgrade” in sequel games of XvT and XWA, especially with the newer ISDII class.
Interesting movie fact. I never knew that! Obviously they just ran with it from that point.
In XvT and XWA, the ability to destroy any components was based on difficulty (only on easy in XvT, or easy and medium in XWA, if I recall correctly). The entire series takes its own liberties with game mechanics, so I don't think it has anything to do with lore. I'm sure the developers had their reasons for it, but all we can do is speculate.
True. Wasn’t aware component destruction was linked to difficulty levels. I always play on Medium. Oh well...I won’t forget my surprise in TIE Fighter after shelling out torpedos to destroy the domes and seeing the shields still up.
but this is a game from 93, the others were way later.
and tbh, i love it that much more this way ;)
in a Y-Wing in Xwing alliance i can pretty much solo an ISD no problem.
just get rid of the 'shield generators', ionize the heck out of it, and then just pump massive laser enegy in it.
it works, it's ok, but it's... well a major game continuity problem.
