Dirt Rally would be the best bet but if I had to choose between wrc5 and SLRE i would choose this one I have all 3

This.
SLRE has its faults, but is good enough to make some people consider it even better than Dirt Rally -- and I think it really is in some respects.
WRC 5 is total garbage. An unpolished, unfinished, unoptimazed buggy game. Stay away from that.

Between the two, most definitely this. WRC 5 is terrible. The only thing it has going for it is the official WRC license, which means it has all the teams and drivers. But the actual game is quite awful in pretty much every aspect.

Avoid WRC 5
SLRE for tarmac, Dirt Rally for gravel/snow.

You're on off the few having that problem with DR. More have that problem with SLRE.

@OP
SLRE is what SFlav described DR as, atleast for me. I would stay away from SLRE until it's fixed. Don't buy WRC 5 though, it's better to wait for SLRE to get fixed.

Colin McRae Rally 05 is still number 1 for me.

WRC 5 is IMO quite a lot worse than WRC 4. It's just no fun to play at all (which the previous WRC games by Milestone kinda were, if arcade), and it looks all muddy and bland.

And it just feels like it doesn't really know what it's trying to achieve. It's stuck in between of being a fun arcade and being a somewhat more serious racing game. So it doesn't actually manage to be either. Like I said, just bland and boring.

Owners of GSCE might try Automobilista (or those who bought it directly). It has a rally-cross implementation and super trucks :)

Does Automobilista have a career mode?...

I have all three WRC5 is not good, but i play it to relax with easy driving and the arcade feeling..and it has the official WRC license... but if you want a good rally sim, take slre or dr.
