Email rewards not redeemable on Steam?
I installed SO via Steam a while ago and promptly forgot about it. Ubisoft have now sent me 2 emails bribing me to return with offers of free gifts and gold, so I figured, why not give it a go?

Trouble is, when you click the "Get Reward" button in the email you're taken to the website, where there's no way to log in to the Steam account. (I understand the FAQ makes clear the 2 systems are completely separate). I tried logging in several times using either my existing Uplay account or via Facebook, but all that did was create new lvl1 accounts!

Trying to claim the rewards whilst logged in to any of the new accounts just told me that that reward was reserved for another player...... So I now seem to have a Steam account and a few new web accounts, and no way to claim the rewards on any of them.

TL:DR - what's the point of sending rewards for a Steam account via email, when the only way to redeem them is via a web account??

Those that send the automated mails do not know you are a Steam user. As such, these things happen.

I think you may received a voucher code or something like this. If you open the game and go to the 'voucher' link, you should be able to redeem it.

I didn't test it myself as I didn't receive such an email, and game is currently down for a long long maintenance, so I can't double check it. Just know that people was talking a few days ago about those mails and claiming the "voucher" codes.

Well I've started actually playing the game for an hour or so a day, and today I got my first email offer since doing so, offering me 100 coins, so I tried following Avenger's advice.

First up, the email doesn't actually give you the voucher code itself, it simply has a link to the SO website telling you to click it to claim your free gift. (Opening the voucher section of the game just gives you a box in which to enter the voucher code, which you don't have yet). So, the only way to get the code is via the website.

When you "Click here to claim your free gift" it takes you to the website where you are told "Unfortunately we were not able to credit your present/gift. The present/gift has been reserved for another player. Please log in to the appropriate account". I was logged in to the WEBSITE account, which I haven't played since I've been playing on Steam. There is no way on the website to log into your Steam account.

Long story short, if you start playing this game on STEAM, Ubi will start sending you email gifts for that account, which can only be claimed by logging in to the web-based game, which, since it's a different account, can't claim them. Does that make sense to, like, anyone??
