1. You do not need to find a new link every single time. It appears as though the game "remembers" your "login".
2. This DOES work on mobile browser - you have to download the Puffin Browser, which uses Flash. When you get your link for browser, send it to yourself via email as well, so that then you can log right in on your phone!
3. You can purchase gems - it's still done through the Steam store, it looks like. I have NOT done this yet, but the option is there.
4. You can view the forums via browser!!! This is a first for Steam members, as you have to have a normal account, so enjoy that for sure.
5. You will most likely have to activate Flash when you hit Play Game - and you may have to do this every time. It's a simple few clicks of the link, but you already have Flash if you're able to play on Steam normally - you just have to approve it.
Some people, oddly enough, are able to still get in - some are not. I figured I would go ahead and make a new post, since this is a recurring issue, and also has the "hack" in the first post.
I did not change it, did not touch anything at all, I can log in since yesterday via steam and have no problems at all.
1) any modifications you do offline are *immediately* overwritten as soon as you click play in Steam interface and it reaquires files from server. I know this because it did so while I had file open in editor to change it.
2) More importantly I can currently get in via Steam, and I figured this out. If anyone should not be able to, it would be the guy who did it first don't you think?
3) Yesterday when told it was fixed I coudl get in. Then it turned out to be unfixed and I couldn't get in on Steam. Then alter I could get ina gain. It's recurring, or intermittent, but what it certainly isn't is connected to whether you used the bypass or not. It is not a "hack", we do nothing except manually perform what otherwise is an automated task. You might as well say any person who types in the game's URL into a browser and not using a stored bookmark is hacking.
Oh, and just to further drive home the point of "touching things you shouldn't". Literally, BB themselves in a pinned post at top of page tells us *specifically* to go muck about in the same file I looked in to fix Flash issues. So, you know, stick the whole "don't touch" BS somewhere sun doesn't shine.
I've heard it from multiple people in the game that have friends that use Steam that they still cannot log in - people that never even attempted the browser fix - which is why I've gone ahead and written up this new thread - it was getting hard to tell them which post numbers on which post, and I figured we should have one central location - this is far from the last time Steam will go down, and now we're prepared.
This is one thing and officially supported. If it is a player, who is not connected to BB and got for sure no approvement of the manipulation from officials, and plays around in game files that is for sure another thing. I have looked at the guide, cause I really like to check out stuff like this and work with it and I went on to the point of the link, which also openly shares your steam login and password. This is a full "no-go" and others should be aware of this, because I do not think that is something that others want. Like there is a panic going around that flash is not supported anymore and has security leaks, but then you tell players to share an unprotected steam link with the private data of their steam accounts in a most probably not set up and secure way? :D
I don't know why some can login and others can't or if it is connected to any kind of game file manipulation through the FAQ or the "guide". But what you were sharing, Snow, is for sure a TOS break, which is clearly noted and can kill your account and the account of everyone who used it.
If you want to use it for yourself, fine. If it truly helped you, even better. But sharing that guide is also risking the account of others and they are mostly not even aware of it. And just because a BB employee allowed a modification in a specific part, gives you literally no right to touch other parts of it. Or are you a BB Developer? There is a reason why those things are called "Dev Consoles".
Just for all of you who never read a TOS, which is more or less legally binding, I copy the most important parts. ;)
3. USE OF SERVICES AND RULES OF CONDUCT
3.1 Use of Services.
You shall not, directly or indirectly:
arrange, modify, decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, translate, adapt, reproduce, distribute, disseminate, re-post or transfer any element of the Content;
...
You are solely responsible for any damage caused to UBISOFT, its partners, other Users of the games and Services or any other individual or legal entity as a result of the use of all or part of the Services in violation of the law or of your obligations as set out in these Terms.
But besides I must say the way you found out a "way around" is really impressive and I think alone the fact that you checked stuff which is off-limits and a normal person would never know exists is really cool and maybe even gave a hint to what was wrong. So hats of for your effort. :)
